I had an old 60 GB iPod Classic in my ride. Actually, I asked around if anyone had an old, broken screen classic but still 100% functional. Found one and it was free. Now I didn't care if it got stolen from the car and left it in there. If you're wondering why I asked for a broken screen, it's because I would use the I-Drive and had no use for the iPod screen.

I would say go with classic if its just being used in your ride. Never have to worry about running out of space.

Diff chips. Like I said, it's a maybe... I havt personally looked into it.

You can also do what others said, see if you can find a used touch or classic or iPod video. It's going to live inside the center armrest right? So who cares if it doesn't hold a full charge or has cuffs? I'm personally using a 1g touch.
