Vacation Resorts

I thought I would start a new thread on vacation resorts and see what others liked and disliked. I have spent countless hours pondering the question to where I want to spend my hard earned money when it comes to my vacation. I know there are dozens of travel sites, but I figured since all of us on this forum already have one thing in common; our passion for BMW, that we might be able to share our tips and travel experience. Plus I'm always looking for a new spot to visit and maybe I have overlooked some place.
I’m personally a Caribbean traveler, as I love the water and the hot sun. I’m an avid scuba diver, so diving usually plays some part of my vacation decision. My wife is a non diver so there always needs to be something to entertain her while I’m diving. I prefer adult only resorts; not that I dislike kids, but it makes it that more relaxing at the pool. I also prefer all- inclusive as I drink my weight in alcoholic beverages
I have found allinclusiveoutlet.com to have the best prices.
Resorts I have stayed in the past 5 years
Jamaica
Couples Negril
Pros: free scuba diving, very personable staff, very laid back resort
Cons: dated rooms
Couples swept Away
Pros: free scuba diving, very personable staff, very laid back resort
Cons: small pools
Iberostar Grand Rose Hall
Pros: nice pools
Cons: Food not great, service mediocre for a resort, resort is 3 resorts together
Mexico
Aventura Spa Palace
Pros: Lots of activities, great pool system, liquor in room
Cons: younger party crowd, very big resort!
Moon Palace
Pros: Great pools, liquor in rooms
Cons: kids..kids..kids
Cancun Place
Pros: None, stayed there after hurricane Emily wiped out Adventura spa palace
Con: out dated (resort has been renovated since my stay) Kids..Kids..kids
La Blanc
Pros: Upscale resort, food excellent, nice pool
Cons: beach not good
Excellence Playa Mujeres
Pros: rooms fantastic! Food great, service perfect, pools are great. Loved everything!
Cons: I had to leave!
Dominican Republic
Excellence Punta Cana
Pros: inexpensive, nice pools, beds on beach
Cons: dated, terrible AC in restaurants, diving not great

Atlantis, Bahamas
Pros: well it's the biggest damn resort there and it has everything you need
Cons: food can be expensive and I don't remember any free activities.

I stayed there as well, but back in the 90's. Great pools! you are right food was very expensive. I enjoyed the casino and there is good scuba near by. I also like the comedy club they had at the time.

First of, you posted in the wrong section. What a dick Haha

Have you checked out Roatan, Honduras? Second largest coral reef in the world and It's simply gorgeous and inexpensive! I usually stay in the West Bay.

If you need more detailed info just PM me.

Matrix, Vallarta is decent.

I was just checking out Roatan the other day, Coco view resort. Flight is the big cost at $1100 per person.

Not sure what section I should have started this post?

Wtf 1,100? Dude look into the the airlines "TACA." I always get good deals through them.

I have always stayed at Bananarama or Island Pearl which are right next to each other and owned by the same family. Check those out as well. There is, also a little city in Roatan that is known as the Venice of the Caribbean; pretty coo spot.

Stayed in Atlantis (The Reef) a year and a half ago (Britney stayed in the same building I was in...walked right past me and my girlfriend didn't even recognize her..not that it matters). I loved it!

Pros:
-Great Beaches(fish swim right up to you and around you...can be unnerving to someone who did not grow up on the coast)

-Great Awesome pools, River Ride is exciting and relaxing at same time

-Plenty of Scuba,
-Good Dolphin interaction
-Comedy club
-Casino
-Food is some of the best ANYWHERE (Had a Jerk Chicken Pizza...we still talk about it over a year later, Excellent Italian, French, and Asian cuisine).
- I could go on and on

Cons:
-Can be expensive (Get a package deal)

-Food can be expensive (once again get the meal plan: It gives you a selection of restaurants you can visit for Breakfast/Dinner from 2-star up to 5-star....you make your reservations and that is it...eat whatever you want from the menu...no matter the price...Drinks, however, are not included).

-Kids: This is difficult to really describe as it depends on where on Paradise Island you stay and what events/sights you are enjoying. If you stay at The REEF, The COVE, or Royal Towers then it is not really an issue...if you stay at Coral Towers or Beach Towers then children are more prevalent. They designed Paradise Island like that on purpose...family stuff on one side, and the more adult stuff on the other side.

I have been to many places (Spain 3x, Holland, Thailand, Mexico, Florida, Austria to name a few) but for me Paradise Island was the best 'couples' vacation I ever went on....
