Amen, brother. The SQ girls are phenomenal. The EK ones aren't too bad either. But you are so right. My old boss and I joke about how the SQ or EK girls would bang you to death and be able to save you after a complicated landing. However on AA or UA, you'll be pulling grandma out from underneath the wreckage saving them! I still think some of those girls are gorgeous. I can't wait to go back to Singapore. But, if you've had a long night at the Sands Casino and decided to stroll to Orchard Towers or Gheylang... it's worth checking the undercarriage to be sure. You don't want to fly home gay, unless you came that way. kudos on the ex plat. I almost solely fly Star Alliance, so I got nothing with AA. 1K on UA and *G in general tho... |

lol i only have like 1,000 EQM on *A and just got that on CA. OW for me as AA flies most everywhere direct right out of DFW. AA did a DEQM/TEQM bonus out of STL, RDU, and PIT, racked up enough after 4 int'l RT's.

V cool. I may sign up and start to honestly contribute. Those sites have helped me out so much. I really only started traveling hardcore about 3 years ago... but, I had traveled for fun before that quite a bit with my family. Currently, I work for a service provider to the industry - but don't get the "special care" since we're not directly a servicer of airlines. Though, I was behind the scenes at ATL last Friday, touring Delta's TechOps. Best itineraries so far: PIT-MCO-LHR-ZRH-TLV-PHL-SEA-ORD-PIT & PIT-IAD-CDG-DXB-BLR-SIN-NRT-ORD-PIT (ATW...woo hoo) With the above and the fact that PIT used to be a US hub, that's mainly why I became a *A guy. The only OW miles I wrack up are when visiting an airframer who's pretty big in the DFW area. They do "Skunky" things from time to time, but I feel like they have our back as a country and "[They] never forget who [they're] working for." I know a lot of others have had more interesting trips. But, sometimes (actually often, since my boss is in our London office) I feel really jet-set when I fly into LHR on the morning flight for a one day meeting and leave on the evening flight heading to somewhere in Asia. Unfortunately, that leaves very little time for pints on St. Martin's Ln. in W1. Safe travels, friend... |

thinking about doing a DFW-MIA-LHR-BKK-HKT-DPS-SIN-HKG-NRT-DFW MR sometime this summer. it all can't be done on OW, and i've got to make the best use of my SWU's, so a little strategy has been taking me a bit to gather. straight revenue in J is $12k haha. i may have to fly coach on some of the asia legs (namely between HKT-SIN), but should be able to upgrade the rest on Y fares within OW. probably only 3 day stopover max at any one place, except LHR and MIA. obviously can't take a direct flight from DFW to BKK haha.

I'll meet ya at BKK. Rent some ///Ms and we'll sample the local fare. haha
God bless ya and safe travels. Where ya headed next? btw, the CDG-DXB route got me my first ride on A380 - that is a big bird! Yeah, I was in row 52, but that's pretty far forward on that aircraft's lower deck and a bulkhead row. Plus, the EK service was impeccable - beats the hell outa UA First, except for the space. I did fly a 777 in First to DOH as part of the connection to BLR on my last trip to India in December. That was very nice. But still - A380 ftw! Sorry, company B.... It's always cool to "meet" someone that also "gets around"... ha. |

supposed to head to SFO in the morning, but that's WX pending. we've had yet another ice storm here today. after that, TPA for a friend's wedding next weekend, FRA on the 23rd, and probably MXP the second week of march, but that's still 'up in the air' .
i'd like to take a ride on an A380 soon. unfortunately, my only option within OW is QF. we've all seen the publicity with their A380's. haha. i'm not too worried about it, really, but i typically try to stick to boeing just on my own preference. one option i thought about is SIN-HKG on the a380 with SQ, but that's not the longest trek on that bird. although the only leg i've ever done on a 747 was PVG-PEK on CA. |

Spoken like a person who have never had the pleasure to fly with such a great airline. I guess only those whom are privileged are able to experience SIA's glory because it is usually 10% more expensive than any major airline. They are considered to be the worlds most awarded airline and they are one of the few 5 star airline of the world. SQ is an airline that is feared, emulated and envied by its competitors all around the world.

The service may be better in biz or First/Envoy/etc, but those are the "most senior" flight attendants who've earned the smaller cabin. Or, we can have the below on SQ or EK, be treated like gold and be actually "attended to". I once got on an SQ flight from DXB to SIN and I coughed. Not like hacking up a lung, I coughed a few times like I inhaled some dust or something. The flight attendant brought me a tray of juice, water and some hardtack candies and asked me if I felt fit to fly or if I'd like to see a doctor! I didn't even ask, nor say a word in those 30sec since I took my seat. I was floored... I was like, "umm... no thank you, but damn... thank you!" I mean, wow. Yeah, I was in Paris the day before, so just about anyone seemed empathic at that point. But, damn. They legitimately wanted to make me as comfortable as possible and truly felt like that was their job. On top of that, I was near the back on a trip-7 (i think). And I'm def not a Solitaire or anything... You do get what you pay for. If you're only flying to Vegas a couple times a year... yeah, who cares - fly AirTran (used to be ValueJet, but then they killed all those ppl in the Everglades and thought a new name would help.) But, if you're wracking up a quarter to half a Million airmiles a year... you start to appreciate the service. 300k airmiles * 1/500mph * 1day/24hrs = 25days of actual FLYING TIME for me in 2010, roughly. I care how comfortable I am for nearly a month of my life per year. That's worth way more than a 10% premium, imho. Now, AF isn't my favorite; however, always stay at the same hotel as those fine Air France stewardesses!!! |

there really is no comparison to most foreign airlines to ours. we're so backwards. i think virgin america is the only 'domestic' carrier that has it right, but they only operate in a handful of cities, flying A319's short-haul. it's basically SW with beautiful FA's and an F cabin. if just one of our major domestic airlines copied the models of, say, SQ or EK, it would no doubt be a more profitable airline than their competitors. the reality is that the majority of business travelers are males. if UA, AA, or DL were to adopt the model of so-called 5-star airlines, it would instantly become the preference for business travelers. hell, head over to flyertalk and browse any sub forum for domestic airlines...everyone will preference taking a codeshare airline with their shit together over one of our crappy carriers. only thing that keeps me on AA metal are the system wide upgrades. cheap comfort sacrificed for real luxury.
