Where's the love for Denon guys?
But I've had a Yamaha since '05 (a 2305 model# i think), never had a single issue with it. Only replaced it because it didn't support hdmi.

Nice choice though OP, congrats! For only $200 more, why not go for the 3600 hehe

Thanks! Well $200 is $200. hehe I'm not sure if I would need all the features/power of the 3600. I think I'm just gonna stick it out and wait for the 2600 to arrive. I will save that $200 towards a new bed.

I read an in an audio magazine a while back where they compared some thick ass Monster Cables to coat hangers. Something like 5/6 of the audiophiles had no idea which was which and couldn't tell the difference. Just go with some nice ~10g and you should be fine.

Lol niiice. I was thinking of getting some 12 gauge wire as they are easier to find than 10. I suppose that will be enough?

thanks! I saw those companies while researching on the audiophile and avsforum sites. A co-worker is gonna give me some 14 gauge wire to try out and decide if I wanna go with 12 or 14.

Do not absolutely do not get sucked in the marketing hype around speaker wires. Copper is copper and no one has figured out how to better engineer copper as conductor. There are specially cables out there with various properties which you do pay extra for but in the frequency range of audio 10Hz to 20HZ straight copper works just fine there is no loss or degradation in the signal quality

That is my professional advise being a Electrically engineer.

The only thing that is a factor is the wattage of the speaker and the length of runs of the wire. For most cases 12 or 14 gauge will do and get stranded wire since current does flow on the surface and the more strands you have the less resistance you will have over distance.

I just did my entire threat room in 14 gauge and went through 300ft for all the speaker.

With that said go to monoprice.com and they have the best price on speaker wires anywhere. Bluejean has lots of good information but you will not believe their mark up on their cables, they claim it is all their engineering and connectors they use. Trust me they are not doing any engineering, they are buying cable from the big guys like Belden who makes some really good cables but they charge you lots for it.

I have used Belden speaker wires in the past and bought the monoprice cable and I could not tell them apart except monoprice has their name on the cable, it looks like monoprice is having the same Chinese manufacturer who builds Belden cables building theirs.

Here is my room I just finished

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showpo...&postcount=127

I have Onkyo TX-NR708 receiver I just put in that can fill that room with the entire range of sound and it shake the entire house so no need for large speakers either.

^ Wow your home theater is siiiickkk!!!! Very nice!

Thank you very much for your insight! It seems like the consensus is either 12 or 14 gauge. I think I will get some 14 awg wire from monoprice.

BTW look at what the UPS man dropped off today!!

You can't really go wrong with Onkyo or Denon, imo. I have both, and haven't had any issues with either.
