Fighter jet shot down over Benghazi Libya.
It's on like Donkey Kong over there. Not sure if it was Gaddafi's, the rebels or one of the Allied forces at this point.

Looks like he ejected in the picture. The black fig. above looks like the ejection seat w/ the parachute streaming from it.

They're saying the UN shot at the Rebel Plane, the people they're helping, in violation by the Rebel of the no fly-zone. LOL big FAIL. http://www.twitze.com/2011/03/19/plane-shot-down/ ... Now its saying the Rebel accidentally shot down their own people, due to no radio communication. LOL http://www.gulf-times.com/site/topic...7&parent_id=17 ... i really don't have a good feeling about this whole thing. like maybe it won't turn out to really be that bad once it's all finished... but that it could be the catalyst for something else

If nothing was done, then Kaddaffi would have easily beaten back the revolt. Brutal reprisals would have begun against the rebels and the west (specifically the US) would have been blamed. We're in a catch-22 that there's no way to win. So it looks like someone is at least trying to do the right thing, and it's at least consistent with a de-facto policy of supporting the people (Egypt) even though it may be our dictator and even though the change in political power could turn against us. At least Kaddaffi is a more palatable target as he's batshit crazy and publicly mills around in drag. Again, I think you've got a valid concern as a worst-case scenario can spill over in a bad way. We'll see... |
