Pay Someone
why risk messing it up and paying for an item twice when you can have it professionally done and put your mind at ease.. also I'm buying time.. which to me is worth it example: you want to install a new sink.. you could try to do it yourself and create a catastrophe that will end up costing you a lot more or you can pay a plumber and he'll do it for you right, the first time

I get the reasons for both and not trying to insinuate one is better than another. Just curious thought it was alright for POTD
FWIW paying someone is no guarantee it'll be done right...but you are transferring the responsibility if they fuck it up. |

+1... DIY is also much more rewarding knowing that you did that not some joe mechanic from around the corner who probably only did it once before. I don't know about you guys but I trust myself more than anyone else to work on my cars

depends on the nature of the work
im good with #s and computers and minor fix-its...laying concrete however is not something i would say I can do.. We just bought a house that needs a few things...I can pay a reputable contractor to come in and do it right (referral increases the chances hes legit IMO) and I dont have to look like a macho dumbass if and or when shit breaks
