too bad the only reason the car was famous were the fact that the designer and maker of the car was caught with ties into the mafia and was arrested for I think was fraud or something. ohh and the BACK TO THE FUTURE.

I drove one of these one time. It is obviously pretty dated now. There is nothing too exciting about it other than the way it looks and the way the doors open. It's not very fast or anything. Still, it is a timeless head turner. As far as making money for its builder it was about as successful as the other famous vehicle built in Ireland.

My favorite Delorean sighting was during the Monterey car weekend several years ago; a very nice DMC coupe was tooling through the parking lot with a custom license plate: COKECAR.
How appropriate, how sad...John Z. Delorean had an illustrious career at General Motors before going into production on the coupe. He got in over his head financially and apparenty was caught smuggling and/or dealing cocaine to help finance his car company. If power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely... |
