I would like to supplement it with more opinion.

This is watching from 2 guys who had M3 during their freshman year.
BMW M3 will attract more dudes first. It will get dude's talk about you more. When dudes talk about you a lot, ladies will later follow.

I think i got more chicks attention from talking about stock/securities/financial market than driving a nice car.

for 4 years "bringing lunch to work" was laughable.....

I had similar choice in college....Ford Focus or Gallardo...on one hand I was thinking about gas mileage but other lime green car had slightly better sounding exhaust...I couldn't decide so I went with our family hauler Ford Bronco.

I'm more worried this kid went 165 on public roads.

But I'd say more like 65, if at all , lol.

He's young and stupid with a grossly underdeveloped prefrontal cortex (Note: This is true of all 18-25 year olds. He's not special in this regard). I'm not surprised that he's reckless and selfish enough to go 165 on public roads. I was no saint myself at his age.

I'd say if the speedo is over by ~10% then your right at the limiter. But I just want to add two comments:

1. Going that fast on public roads is stupid.
2. Stop trying to impress people and just be yourself...you'll get more respect that way

Ha! Arn't you still about that age kid? Haven't argued with you for a while, how's school treating you? I hope you're still well fed with that $3k monthly eating out budget. Btw, how old are you now?

If there's someone on this forum that I worry about their future for, it'd be you Nem.

Not too bad. I graduated this past May and I'm off to medical school this fall. I've said yes to UT Southwestern but I'm on a couple of waitlists for out of state (schools that are honestly well out of my league if I'm being honest). We'll see how things go. I'm not expecting much movement but I'm completely satisfied with UTSW. That was my number one choice for in state schools and it's pretty good in its own regard so I'll be happy regardless of what happens.

But you know I'm glad you took the time out of your busy schedule to chat. 3 hour work weeks sending emails must be a killer. Just kidding

That is true, I did go that fast and was pretty stupid decision; however, other than that situation I do respect the rules of the road.

Congrats. Truly happy to see you heading off to med school. Do your parents practice medicine too?

I honestly believe that when you're naked in front of a mirror looking at yourself, it's still one of the best professions. Common sense dictates that it's not a good way to get rich--so what? Is there a profession in which one gets rich? Nope, because you're working for someone else.

What I would say about medicine is that it's a real tangible, and needed skill. That mutual fund manager living in the 9 bed / 11.5 bath house with the 5 car garage and Porsches, Ferraris, and summer homes on the Cape and Hyannis, does he really do anything that we need? Nope.

So who is to say which is better? The individual.

I appreciate it man. Nah, my dad is a PhD in electrical engineering and works in academia/patent law, and my mom is a housewife.

Yeah I agree completely.

Medicine probably ensures that you'll live a comfortable lifestyle from your mid 30s or early 40s and beyond. There's a delay due to schooling (4 years), residency @ ~$40k/year (3-5 years), and possible fellowships beyond that if you specialize. But to be brutally honest money was never a factor for me, and beyond a certain point it's nothing more than a game.

On your point about the mega-affluent hedge fund manager, I'm always fascinated by what drives these people to make more money once they're far beyond the point of diminishing returns. There's a nice special on CNBC called "untold wealth" that delves into this very issue. In the opening minutes they show I think a CEO worth $50M+ mirroring your sentiments exactly - "I don't need this. I don't need this to live..." It's a quick, 45 minute watch for those interested -

If I knew you were going 165mph on a road that my wife travelled on, I'd slap you.
