The car is an absolute eyecatcher, and, when I ordered I got an email from MGmbh, I have the first ix1 in that color.

That is a proper bold Kermit colour green, not sure it’s me but hey why not, bet you get some looks with that.

On another note, I’m a bit pissed right now. I’m at a park sitting in my car waiting for a client to show up, when a group of Korean tourists unloads a few stalls away from me. It’s a very scenic spot, so this isn’t out of the ordinary, but two of them break off from the pack and beeline it to my car. The female of the couple proceeds to park her ass on my hood while her husband lined up to take photos of her. I jumped out of my car after the shock wore off and chased them away, but WTF. I don’t really care if you take photos with my car, but holy hell when is it ever okay to just touch someone’s car?!

During COVID, I was on 4 or 5 flights across the Pacific where the 777 carried fewer than 10 passengers. A couple of months ago, I flew on another 13-hour TPAC flight and the 777 was 100% full.(so full and overbooked that they had to IDB about a dozen very angry-looking screaming passengers, even $800 was not enough to find a single volunteer to give up his/her seat) My upgrade didn't clear and I sat between two very large 187cm+ Japanese dudes for 13 hours.

I imagine it must be swamped with tourists where you are. Probably even more so than pre-COVID.

My advice is to avoid parking where the tourists are. Of course, I'm willing to bet that you would not have been displeased if it was two hot ladies in bikinis sitting on your hood... or roof!

Unfortunately I cannot park away from tourists. A large part of my work involves tourists, not to mention they are pretty much everywhere. My issue is not with tourists, my issue is with people who think it’s okay to touch other people’s things without asking. I don’t care if they’re hot, no one sits on my hood.

I forgot about German car horns. Why do they have to make it not work when engine is off? When I bought my very first Mercedes a long time ago, I was parked outside a building in my college waiting for my girlfriend. Some idiot professor was trying to parallel park into the space in front of me. He looked like he knew what he was doing, but when the rear of his Volvo was 5 inches from my front bumper, he didn't slow down. I freaked out and kept pressing the horn... of course, the Mercedes horns didn't work when the engine was off, just like BMW. My bumper looked alright, but the license plate and the plate holder were crushed. He got out of the car and apologized. He was one of my professors and I didn't want to ask for his insurance.

The next day, I took the bumper off and examined the inside... old school Merceddes had decent bumpers and I didn't see any damage. Bought a replacement license plate holder and that was that. The professor got to know me pretty well and even gave me an undeserved A at the end of the semester.(to bribe me? or felt guilty? who knows) I eventually got a friend to rewire it so the horns worked at anytime.(again, old school Mercedes was easy to rewire)

After reading about your incident with the tourists, I wonder if there's a way to rewire the BMW X1 horns so they can work with the engine off?(just like every American and Japanese out there) If not, I'll install a secondary horn with a separate push-on on the dash like my other friend did.

learn to say "what the f@#^!" in Korean or whatever language most tourists speak over there... it will be useful the next time someone decides to sit on your X1's roof? (plenty of YouTube videos teaching people how to say Korean bad words, for example)

that's the danger of looking at car manufacturers websites from Germany, UK, Japan and France... the cool options are almost NEVER available for the US buyers.

It often depends where they are made. Some of the cars coming out of Mexico get options and colours of the X3 that everyone else doesn't for those models coming from the other plant for example.
