Not liking my powers signature release Irish whiskey. It's OK, but not any better than just regular Jamison. I have determined though, that I enjoyed my millennium falcon ice cubes to the big giant round ice cubes.

Bought this Saturday.
It tastes very similar to LeadSlingers and only cost $20, so if you like that flavor then its a good way to save money.

Its no Kentucky Bourbon, which I prefer, but it isnt terrible.

How much is a bottle of rubbing alcohol? Just wanted to know for my friends in the alley who are probably cross shopping the two.

I kid - there are some decent things that can be had for little, but not commonly. And you comment to price and ringing endorsement that "it isn't terrible" led me to poke a little fun at it.

I had a single glass of Masterson's Rye at dinner Saturday night. Liked the idea of pepper spicy from reading, and it was quite pleasant on the tongue.

I agree with you on the price and rubbing alcohol.

The reason I mentioned price is for the people who drink and like Leadslingers because that goes for ~$40/bottle.
This tastes just as good (or not good ) for half the price.

I got a bottle of that too but I agree with violator. Good value but just below the price point I enjoy drinking apparently. I'm not drinking just to drink... It made the start of the second shelf. Need to get a few more of my bottles up. And then maybe a shelf for non-whiskey.

I'm not and haven't said it's the greatest.
However, I'm certainly not alone in my fondness for this whiskey. A quick Google search can easily confirm what the experts and casual drinkers alike think about Eagle Rare. Especially at its price point.

just found this thread...good stuff.

i'm a whiskey guy...mostly bourbons and ryes. i recently finished off my makers 46. i'm not a huge makers fan, as i tend to like higher rye content. the makers 46 definitely has more appeal to me than the usual makers juice.

Oh, I know. Over on r/whiskey they pretty much jack eachother off over anything from buffalo trace (including eagle rare)

What I said is that it is just below my enjoyment level, even if it is a good value. I prefer to either drink something I will really enjoy, or not drink at all. If I am just drinking just to drink it will be beer, and I only go for the good stuff there as well.

No one inferred that you did.
I’m well aware of the over hype of ER and other Buffalo Trace products.

I tried to like it, but sadly it is now the bottom bottle in my collection.

it's an interesting whiskey for sure - LOTS of oak right up front, but a pretty smooth finish for 20 year old juice.

I hope that is an AFTER picture of said glass of WP. Almost ordered a sniff of that Saturday night, based on "Rye" and the name.

Had some Redbreast 15 year old last night at a buddy's bday party.

He also opened up a 35 year old bottle of Wiser's Canadian whiskey as well. Not bad, but a little sweeter than I'd prefer.

How did you like the Redbreast?

It’s one of my favorite Irish whiskeys. I always have a bottle of each in my cabinet, including the 21 year. If I had to pick one of their offerings it would be the 12 year Cask Strength.

definitely afterwards...well, there's actually about a finger left in that pic.

all of whistle pig's stuff is good in my book. that 15-yr was a birthday gift...it's amazing stuff if you're a fan of a good rye. not quite boss hog level amazing, but it's only half the price of the boss hog!
