I had been talking to the dealer and the ETA was bumped to the 22nd from the 19th .

But as of checking tonight it's in transit from Brunswick GA to Durham, NC. I'm sure there a few stops involved but hopeful for an arrival late tomorrow or early on the 22nd.

I am only 6hrs away, after all. Maybe juussst maybe, I'll be able to pick it up before X-Mas.

Hope you get it by tomorrow!

By the way, at point during the whole process did you complete the financial part? (leasing, financing, cash, or otherwise?)

Thanks!

Good question... so I originally got approved through BMW financial but the rate they provided wasn't the best. I don't plan to finance the car for that long before paying it all off but given I had all this extra time to think about it, I went ahead and shopped around.

I ended up going through my old bank in Albany, NY ..."SEFCU" and they gave me 3.75% for 72 months and 3 months no payment interest free so I thought that was kind of a no brainer. It does add an extra step though with the bank requiring a window sticker, purchase agreement and notice of lien to be uploaded... then I need the check to be overnight mailed.

So the TL;DR I was approved at both places but you can't finalize anything until they have the vehicle on-site. Going outside of BMW means you might save a few bucks but it will add some additional steps to purchase process.

That's what I figured...

I am rather amused that the banks and credit unions don't seem to realize that people do order cars and wait months before the cars arrive. They act like this is something unheard of. The best rate that I got was 2.9% from my credit union, but they only allow 30-day period before the financing has to be finalized....which means if the car arrives on the 31st day, then I have to re-apply again, which results in another hard pull, as well a higher rate(3.49% or more). I don't have that much cash on hand, due to making a stupid decision earlier this year to buy a new-build house with 100% cash.(I know, I know... but I was "fighting" with 4 other buyers who wanted that house... in the end, the builder went with my offer because it was all cash... and closed within 5 days)

Crabby that's a great rate! I was able to get them to extend the 30 day thing, because it's a new car and was still being manufactured. That seemed to be like the nbd part of the equation, either way with financing stuff it's an extra step (would be nice to just pay cash and walk out).

I didn't get the information I needed for my bank to finalize the loan today and move to signatures so tomorrow will be a big day.

In any case, it's time for me to update my timeline and move to a thread of my own.

Waiting for mine to get to the dealer. From lurking in the M4 forum, where there is a thread for the boat I was on, people there farther away from me already have their cars at their dealer. I guess it makes sense to prioritize the spendier cars, but still.

I'm sorry dude... yeah that sucks. As someone that's been waiting along with you, I know.

Not sure if it this perspective will make you feel better but ... I don't think it really has anything to do with that.

Not that I know at all the inter-workings of the B and the M and the W... I think it probably has more to do with efficiency and loading cars on trucks that are going to similar places.

If however, many of those M4s are coming to dealerships nearby you... I will eat all of my words. This entire post, haha.

So today ends a very long order process for me, as I happily received the vehicle today.

I'm going to post about my experience in another thread, so not to take away from folks posting about their orders.

https://u11.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1978920

I did enjoy commiserating and checking this thread daily (along with my BMW tracking).

However I did have a strange disappointment, the tracking app disappeared when I was at the dealer today and I took ownership. I never got to see it hit the final dot that said "finish", the car was just in the garage as mine. I don't know why I was looking forward to seeing that so much...

Haha. I thought it was just me. Dealer called me on Friday 12/9 and asked if I wanted to pick up the car the next day but I was traveling and I came in Monday to do it. At delivery he helped set up my app, and when I got home I checked My Garage to see "Delivered" but it just showed my status. I thought it had something to do with the extra couple of days at the dealer before I picked up.

haha... ok, I think when you using that app and tracking it as often as I was it was like I wanted to see that and screenshot it.

But yeah, as soon as I signed the paperwork it was just gone.

you do know that those of us with 1 or 2 more months to wait can only drool over pictures posted in this forum?
