Canon's refurb site is running out of lenses. This earthquake nightmare is really making a mess of the photo industry. Although I'm sure that's way down on the list of concerns for the Japanese. They have far more pressing issues at hand.

Toyota has a large assembly plant near where i am, they are on reduced days because of lack of parts.

my buddy is doing 3 day weeks on a good week right now. and it's really hard for him because he has a lot of bills since he's supporting himself and his parents in a house he owns.

The Japan thing is becoming a world wide issue slowly.

The people at my local camera shop/chain aren't too concerned yet, but they know it's going to get worse soon as the overstock they have is dwindling slowly. So it's only a matter of time before they have to start reapproaching things or start pushing samsung and hasleblad on everyone

Yeah, I agree. But, it sucks. They even cancelled the PMA 2011 trade-show this fall, when I was hoping Canon would come out with the 5DMK3 and Nikon with the D800. Oh well.

interesting because there's a show coming up here in about 2 weeks, i guess i'll have to keep an eye on the schedule and see if it gets canceled.

I think by the sounds of things it's too late for them to cancel this one, but it's going to be pretty rough.

ever since i started watching the Zack Aries stuff, i've been wanting a 70-200 2.8 now..... damnit....

I also really really want the 135 F2L there's supposedly one still available in my area... been eyeing it for a while aparently it takes the tele converters very well.

I'm also wanting the 85 1.8.... but i can't seem to find any of those around anywhere.

Don't suppose it's worth it for you to buy from the Canon USA site, eh? Refurbed 85 1.8 is $336. Not bad.

haha, forgot that i saw that one.... well, it's #2 on my wish list, so i will be keeping an eye on that, and going to my local crack peddler (camera shop) to see if i can get my hands on that 135 first. If no, I'll probably be giving cross border camera parts shopping a shot. I've gotten a few car parts cross border, some good and some bad experiences... (still waiting on a part that went missing in the summer, long story)

oh well, will know tomorrow. I'm slowly falling in love with primes...
