I saw similar reporting as to how Red Cross screwed up with Hurricane Sandi hitting NJ. And apparently dropping the ball in Texas now.

I saw some places in Houston are up to $3.49 for 93. At what point can we call it price gouging?

Did someone mention pizza delivery? Yep, even when the mail stops, the pizza must get through..

Aside from medical care and Cuban cigars, what do you have in mind? Having lived in the US, UK and Germany, I can't think of anything that's more expensive here aside from those two things.

Higher education? (Presumably prescription drugs are included with healthcare. Healthcare is a very significant cost for many.)

As an aside to all this cerebral discussion...good places to donate are the local food banks. People will be needing food and the food banks can make a few dollars go a long way. We support our local food bank regularly and we just sent a donation to the Houston food bank. Food is critical for those forced out of their homes. It's the best way to have your donation take an immediate effect.
