I thought it was a good race with plenty of entertainment...for a change.
Was very pleased to see George take his first win. Great drive by Lewis to take second. Happy that Carlos wasn't forced to give his podium place to Lecock & Max kinda showed the type of guy he is by ignoring the team 'request' to give Perez the position back. Bring on next season

Great race up and down the grid as was yesterdays, such a good circuit to race around and lots of action.
Well done Russell for his second win of the weekend and first GP win and a close second for Hamilton. Cracking drive by Leclerc to get back to 4th from the very back, it was a bit bumper cars at times. Max, well what can you say, more dirty driving which he admitted in the interview but we expect that. But OMG what a classless moron for not letting Perez through. The number of times Perez has helped, gifted or just slowed others down to help Max with nothing in it for him and then the one time it’s Max could help Perez he says nope I have my reasons. Well what a horrible nasty attitude, and people wonder why so many dislike him. Just classless. I hope Perez laughs the next time they ask to help Max. Honestly this is indefensible for what Perez has done for him, it won’t be about MB win it will be the outcry over his attitude or lack of. |

Hard to justify Max not letting Checo have the spot. Ham and Vettel have done the same. If you're winning championships you don't have to follow team orders it seems. |

So there is definately something going on between VER and the RB team behind the screens. Something is bothering Max but he doesn't want to talk about it in public.
Here is the post race interview with Checo (almost embarrassing, I feel for him): And this is the post race interview with Max basically telling that something has been bothering him I hope they sort things out, F1 drivers can hold grudges for years, plenty of examples of that, sometimes with teams almost getting destroyed by it... Then again, Sai also didn't gave up his place for LEC for 'the championship' despite LEC begging for it....but that's not 100% comparable.

Stellar maiden win by Russell. Fully deserved.
Russell not slowing down for Hamilton (but he first asked team instructions during the safety car after Norris DNF and was allowed to race Hamilton - no "invert track position" instructions). Sainz not slowing down for Leclerc (Leclerc's track position inversion request denied). Verstappen not slowing down for Perez (Perez's track position inversion request granted in the final moments of the race, but overruled by Verstappen). Ocon getting firmly instructed not to race Alonso. Dog-eat-dog business.

Hamilton - Rosberg were allowed to be equally. But Perez is just a helper for Max unless Max is so far back he can’t help him. It’s why Red Bull have so many fewer 1-2 finishes than Merc regardless of the dominance. But to not give give him these points considering the sacrifices Perez makes for Max week in week out, appalling in my book as a person as much as a teammate. As Perez says, he showed his true colours, and so he has they they aren’t nice. |

That's why he is the double World Champion . We've seen worse from the Mercedes team and their disrespectful team orders in times of the 7 years of Mercedes domination . Think Bottas is very gratefull that he survived it with the Mercedes team.. Next weekend It's the last race of the season in Abu Dhabi ! Don't see who can beat the Merc's bullet pace at Abu Dhabi. Looks like we're back in '2020 . From what I know , this was no surprise to me ...

Sounds like 'no track position inversion' is a matter of principle for him that he has internally made clear in the past. No matter whether this could be controversial on a human level. Compare: Bottas-Hamilton 'invert track position' situations: Russian GP 2018 "So you need to let Lewis by into Turn 13 this lap." Austrian GP 2021: "So, Lewis has damage. Do not race it for now. We will review. OK Valtteri, we will invert the cars into Turn 1, correction Turn 3." Silverstone GP 2021: "And team order: do not fight with Lewis. OK Valtteri, we invert the cars into Turn 15 in this lap." Zandvoort GP 2021: "Valteri, it's James. Please abort the fastest lap attempt before the end of the lap."

If I remember the situation correctly , MAX was running the pole lap at Monaco while CHECO crashed in the front deliberately to secure his P2 or P3 at the startgrid in the Monaco GP . Then came Sainz and crashed into CHECO .. At that moment I still remember , I was in disbelief .Actually lost in words .. I re-watched the incident and it looked very suspicious and so it was ! CHECO won the Monaco GP .... So... I'm not surprised by MAX's reaction from today . And no wonder that MAX couldn't say that in his interviews. After all , I'm pretty sure Checo Isn't a saint ! Let's watch it again ..

"Verstappen on why Hamilton clash was ‘a shame’ – and his ‘reasons’ for not obeying team orders in Sao Paulo"
https://www.formula1.com/en/latest/a...HtwUexnc7.html "“That’s why I first went to speak to the team before I came here. We put everything on the table why, and I gave my reasons. I’m not going to say why, but I think they understood. I already explained it to them before, so it was not new to me, and not new to them,” said Verstappen. Verstappen led Perez home after refusing to give a position back to his team mate “I think it’s more important as a team now that we finally sat together, altogether, and we really put everything on the table, and we move forward. We go to Abu Dhabi, of course we want to win the race, but also if there’s a chance to help Checo I will, but that’s why it was important we had this meeting now.” Verstappen added that he could understand his team mate’s frustration, but reiterated that he had his reasons and, when pushed if it had anything to do with the Monaco Grand Prix weekend, where Perez signalled an early end to Q3 with a crash, he said: “You can decide that; I’m not going to say it.”" "Sainz pleased with ‘great fightback’ to podium as Leclerc explains team orders request in Brazil" https://www.formula1.com/en/latest/a...rwTMhyhNM.html "Regarding Leclerc’s request, Sainz added: “I heard nothing on the radio, I just got told.” Meanwhile, Leclerc explained just why he had asked the pit wall to swap himself and Sainz for the final podium place. Ferrari’s reasoning to Leclerc was that the swap was “too risky”. The Monegasque said: “I don’t normally ask these type of things, but we had these discussions prior to the race, so that’s why I asked about it. For some reason we changed our mind on that – I don’t know yet, the reason. “Hopefully we will be quick enough in Abu Dhabi to get that second place [in the standings]. I just hope we won’t be lacking the second place by three points or something like that.”"

Sadly Checo has found the cesspool...now he has to decide if he can tolerate the smell. Money and a competitive car no doubt will help him overcome the stench.

Everyone bitching about max, but look at Leclerc begging for 3rd place (which would be 3 points btw) vs Perez begging for 6th (which would be 2 pts) Perez wouldn't need to beg if he just drove better this weekend and the weekends before. He's a #2 driver, he would never win a championship, or beat Max, he had the chance in the beginning of the season, and he just didn't perform. The fact that Max had to pit early for damage, then managed to go from last to 6th, and pass Perez already tells you how much better of a driver he is. Next year is his last year, and Perez will be booted off the team for someone else. And Lewis is always throwing shade at Max, dude gave him zero space and somehow Max got the penalty lmao, they didn't cause any issues all season and the only time they had a chance to win, Lewis squeezes him like he always does to any driver and gets away Scot free. How anyone likes Hamilton is beyond me, dude drives dirty, and people jump to his defense all the time, he isn't even a good driver, look how he drove all season, and hasn't even won a race yet, and he always plays the victim card of "I always have a target on my back" As VER said, he went for the gap, it costed him 5 seconds, but it costed HAM the win. I seriously hope HAM never wins another race again so he's exposed as a fraudulent champion. |
