Yes. But sometimes you don't want flavor. You want light and refreshing.

If I'm going out to eat or drink then yes I want flavor and will not order a coors or the like unless they have nothing else. Same goes for porters, I tend to rarely order porters in FL. However in NC when it's cold out.... nothing beats a nice porter. If I'm doing yard work or roasting by the pool, don't care about flavor all that much. Just want cold and refreshing.

Same goes with diet coke. I've always had people tell me why are you ordering a diet coke when you're eating a cheeseburger or whatever. I don't order it because it has less calories. I just prefer the lighter less sweet less filling taste over normal coke. Now sometimes I do want that regular coke, but not usually.

IPAs I tend to not like regardless. Although I have had a few where the hops don't stand out as much. I just typically don't risk it and avoid IPAs in general.

^ All the above except for the IPA's, Greene King IPA bridges the difference.

I use to like guiness, I thought it had a pretty strong flavor. Then I started drinking local porters in NC. Now I feel guinness is the equivalent of budlight in the porter world. My favorite is Green Man Porter and Coco Loco by NoDa.

But Guinness is a stout, not a porter.

Green Man is great - have you been to the brewery? Really neat place.

Not much of a beer drinker here. I have a hiatal hernia and the carbonation really aggravates it. Do like other alcoholic drinks, though. Wine, cognac, some mixed drinks now and then but mostly stick to wine.

That's because Guinness IS a light beer. That's why it floats on top of Harps in a half and half.

I wasn't sure if it was a stout or a porter and Google was returning both. Makes sense though since I tend to like porters more than stouts.

Have not been to the brewery. I believe it's in Asheville and we don't tend to go out that way too often. I've been to the Highland Brewing which is also in Asheville but like just outside the city. They have a pretty amazing compound. They have their oatmeal porter, but I still prefer the Green Man.

I only recently got into porters and stouts, didn't know they had light beers in that category. Still not sure I like a light dark beer. Not really refreshing.

Highland is great! I was there for the grand opening of their current facility and have been several times since. Heck of a compound. One of my favorite t-shirts is from them, but I've apparently drank too many beers with the way it fits now

That and Sam Adams Boston Lager are my go-to choices when the choices aren't great. Both are very consistent. Guinness is also pretty low in alcohol content and a good choice when there isn't a designated driver available.

Curious what the vibe from the group is on this one. Maybe this is more popular vs unpopular opinion:

Deshaun Watson should be not be playing in the NFL this season, or maybe ever again

Porsches (pronounced "porches") suck.

Ferrari (pronounced "fairy") sucks.

There, I said it.
