Pippen is far from the only or even first person to say LJ > MJ...
As for the Bulls needing an ambassador...they definitely could benefit from it...look into how much trash MJ has talked on the Bulls organization being unfair or a bad organization to play for simply because he wanted stake in ownership and they (rightfully) denied it (look at how the Bobcats are faring...)...had he wanted an "ambassador" role they'd gladly have given him one...but he took it upon himself to...well...prove the Bulls right |

Who else has said that? I mean was it someone we respect? (Not saying I don't respect Scottie...). I just don't think LBJ is better than Jordan was. Just like I don't think Shaq was better than Olajuwan, Russell, etc, etc.....when I compare I use position, build, athleticism..etc, etc....with my criteria MJ and LBJ are two completely different players. If we are going to compare right here, right now...we have to use body of work...and LBJ does not have that yet, its something he is working on. Also remember the league was a bit different then as well. They had the "Jordan Rules" but the rules of today are even more lenient in favor of the offensive player. (have you seen some of the ticky-tack fouls being called during these playoffs?! The constant moving screens? And don't get me started about dribbling and what a "Carry" is considered today)

Whoever says LBJ>MJ is on crack. He may have the tools but not the accomplishments. Let's see how LeBron's career plays out first before we can compare.

To be clear, I'm saying I believe LJ is a better player than MJ, from a pure talent, capability perspective. Obviously, MJ is the more successful of the two. It's very possible to be the best player, and never win a championship. It's a team sport. I think Peyton Manning is better than Tom Brady. I think LJ is better than Kobe. Number of titles is a measure of a success a player has had, not completely indicative of their inherent ability. Never is 1 player going to do it all by himself.

I can't argue with you from a defensive standpoint...he is an EXCELLENT defender.
I think that a player that has less so-called talent and capability and does what Jordan makes him greater automatic....because he DOESN'T have the physical attributes of a Lebron...or in Bill Russell's case Shaq. Shaq was good because he was BIGGER/faster than everyone else playing at that position...it was not sheer skill...to better gauge his skill level and how good he really was I would have to put him up against a man as big as he is and then gauge "Skill". So saying that of course LBJ can drive to the lane a bit easier than MJ...he is bigger, harder to bring down...doesn't make him "Better" or more "Skillful". |

I agree, I think there was a "fire" (to use a corny phrase) in MJ that literally does not exist in LJ, at least not to the extent that Michael had it. Michael is by far my favorite basketball player, he's amazing to watch. What he's capable of with what he had, was as you mention, simply great. This drive, combined with his excellent talent, propelled him to be the most successful player the NBA has seen thus far. I'm not going to refute that, because I can't, and I don't believe it.
To me, who the better player is, is much simpler than this. It's a factor of success, thought not the absolute predictor of it. I see LJ play with speed and explosiveness that MJ wishes he had - and a few of MJ's comments (Kobe is better than Lebron) indicate this to me. Michael has always been that way, had a way of putting someone down, or taking it personally, sometimes coming across as jealous because he does have that absolute need to be the best instilled him, which I don't think Lebron does. Lebron's been told he's the best his whole life, and he's been told right. To be faster, bigger, stronger, with just as much finesse and shooting ability, combined with the aforementioned defensive play, puts LJ as the better player to me. That's all - a better player. I'm not wrapping this up with anything but raw, physical talent. For a player to be better, number of rings doesn't matter, who they play with doesn't matter, and lb for lb, LJ is a better player than MJ. |

I am a HUGE Lebron fan, and I do believe that he is the best player currently in the NBA and has been for the past few years. But as much as i hate to say this Micheal Jordan will be the greatest player to ever pick up a basketball. Lebron is a very very very close 2nd, and will prob. stay like that for the history of the game.
