The Bears should be ok as long as Hanie puts up halfway decent numbers and doesn't make too many mistakes. They've got an excellent defense and excellent special teams. They play 4/6 of their final games against what should be pushovers. They only need to go .500 for the rest of the way, and Hanie would have to suck balls (or another facet of the team would have to absolutely collapse) for them not to make it.
At the beginning of the season, I predicted a 9-7 Lions team, in the playoff race until the mandatory loss at GB in January. I still maintain that prediction. That record probably won't be good enough to get into the playoffs, but 10-6 will make it for sure in the NFC this year. The Bears will still make the playoffs. If Cutler is still out at that point and you guys have to hit the road, then I dunno.... |

i think barber should be taking a few more snaps as well, he's gotten a few more the past few games and has done well. If the o-line can't creat holes for forte to go thru he tends to struggle, where as barber likes to crash the line and power through no matter what.......

but why try and mix it up...making a hole should be the point in the first place...giving barber an opening would just means he crashes the 2nd or 3rd level rather than at the line...hoping Martz play calling is on point

no i know what your saying. I guess I just meant like they're so used to blocking a certain way for forte they probably would block better for barber if he had more carries. i think his limited success is because of that reason... not enough carries.

tough loss, was expecting that type of performance, but that last int to end the first 1/2 was the dagger IMO, we kept playing catch up ever since that...
defense played great, aside from that one big play jennings gave up in the fourth which again was a dagger. Caleb showed his inexperience and youth at times, but had some positive highlights, he seemed to progress as the game went on.... barber>forte when it comes to physical dline's...didn't help the raiders were stacking the line, not respecting Haine's arm, but that's exactly what they should have done... Martz can't keep running screen all day and needs to continue to pound the ball rather than throw, especially in situations in the red zone at the end of the first half...(I blame martz as much as I do Haine for that INT, blind side creen in the red zone with a new qb, FTL) hoping Haine watches the tapes, learns, and regroups....hopefully we can get a win at home against KC next week...

KC? really? they didn't beat us, we beat ourselves with way too many errors, including tipped hail mary....
hoping forte's knee is alright...but I've been liking barber's performance the last few games, why we didn't seem him at all the second half along with way too many pass plays rather than rush yards by mad mike is making he hole even deeper to climb out of... and one more thing...Roy Williams needs to GTFO of chicago...

Looks like the Lions have a tad easier schedule for the remainder of the year. It'll be close!

What we have left is home against Minnesota and San Diego, and away at Oakland and Green Bay (just about in the dead of winter no less). We'd be lucky to go 2-2 through that stretch, but it's looking more like 1-3. To be honest, we could very well lose to the Vikings this weekend. I'm pretty worried about it. With all the shit going on with Suh in the media, all the criticism of Schwartz and lack of discipline, injuries, and dudes doing whatever the fuck they want (BURLESON), we're set up very nicely for a huge letdown. Next year though.... A healthy Best and Leshoure (hell maybe even Kevin Smith too), patch up the secondary with an acquisition or two... Get an O-lineman or two.... I don't know what the Bears are going to do for the rest of the year. Hanie looks like he might be decent IF he gets perfect protection every down, but any time there's any pressure, the dude goes crazy. Forte may be back in a couple weeks, right? That will help. To be honest, I think the Giants and the Falcons will grab the wild card spots. For either Detroit or Chicago to do so would be a borderline miracle with the way the rosters look at the moment. |
