I see what you are saying, but the alignment looks right to me and remaining differences appear to be poor photography.

Generally, the easy give away on fake Subs is the crown guard. The guards in the pic look spot on to me, but I'll say too the poor quality and angle of the pic make a certain determination not an easy thing.

Not that it would apply to the Kermit pictured earlier, but God help the soul who has an older model that just plain doesn't have all the anti-pirating features that more recent ones do. My going-on-twenty Sub doesn't have that or several other anti-fraud features. My Milgauss does. My 30+ Air King also has nothing of the sort.

If I'm honest, I think Rolex does more to make it difficult for secondary market consumers to distinguish fakes than do the folks who actually make them. What with their offerings in selected markets, the interchangeable dials and bezels, the very minimal variations from year to year, and specific-geographic-market-only issues like the 1976 Asian Smurf (http://catalog.antiquorum.com/catalo...03)...it's close to impossible for anyone but Rolex to actually know whether any given watch is authentic or fake.

All the best.

This must sound like a noobie question, but what is the benefit of doing that? Is a watch serial number like a SSN or something?

All the best.

I don't know what they could do with it. I do know that unlike my license plate, they couldn't use it to get hold of all sorts of personal information about me.

All the best.

I have never owned a fake article but I have seen hundreds of authentic Rolex from the store, friends, mine's, etc... and I can easily tell

Well, you'll be disappointed when you get there because with very few exceptions (three out of 40+ watches) I throw them away after I take out the watch, papers and freebies. LOL.

I keep the small, thin, flat ones that would fit nicely into a suitcase or briefbag and not take up a lot of space, but the rest I toss out or use as boxes to hold things like candy or some other small, insignificant item that I'll give to kids or other adults who have never heard of the brand name indicated on the box.

The packaging that accompanies many watches, and especially fancy or micro-brand ones, is just insane. For the life of me, I can't figure out why a watch company thinks anyone needs or wants all that non-essential packaging. Sometimes a large-ish box is necessary, such as when a watch comes with a winder, but otherwise, I don't know what the Sam Hill the point of all that elaborateness is. It's not as though the consumer needs the fancy box to tell them they just bought something special. Most people with half the brain God gave a goose would figure that much from the absurd sum they just paid for the damn watch. LOL.

This seems reasonable to me, but I would still throw away the box unless I knew I'd need it for something soon.

This will get given away by the following Christmas if not before:

Boxes like this I keep because I can actually use them.

This is okay too:

But I just don't have any desire to have a box big enough for three watches and having a spot for just one, regardless of how nice the box is.

All the best.

I have to be honest that what little I know about what distinguishes the fakes from the authentic ones is what I've picked up here and there in passing. Since I don't buy pre-owned watches, and I only buy from reputable or authorized sellers, I don't worry about it all that much.

As for what's on someone else's wrist, well, I really don't care if it's fake or not. I only care about that for my own watches. Were I to see someone with a fake watch that mimics one of mine, I'd just assume we have something in common: good taste. Whether we have similar spending power is irrelevant to me.

I'm into watches, but when it comes to people and their watches, it's the person that interests or disinterests me. I'm sure there are very nice folks wearing fake watches and that there are complete jackasses wearing authentic ones. Of the two, I'd sooner spend my time with the former.

All the best.

Sharp watch

I'm looking to pick up Batman soon! My AD said he has access to them whenever I want, plus he has a "coupon" for $200 for me to use.

It's a store coupon, not Rolex. I'm a pretty good customer. Have purchased two Rolex's from him, plus a ton of stuff for my wife and family.

Since this is a general thread, but not specifically stating no "for sale" posts, I figured this would be the best place to post a Rolex for sale.

I have for sale a 2000 Rolex Explorer II Polar (white face).
It comes will full documentation from Rolex, the original receipt and boxes.
I just had it serviced by Rolex in February 2014 so it comes with a full two-year guarantee. I have not worn the watch since it came back from service.

During the service, the bezel was replace with a brand new genuine Rolex bezel, the movement was rebuilt and a light polish to get out all the small imperfections (the watch was in really good shape prior to service). As you can see from the pics, the side lugs are very sharp and the overall condition is very good.

Watch comes with everything you see in the pics. (note: the bezel protector was still on when I took the pics)
I have a very good iTrader rating, plus additional outside references if you'd like from Rolex Forum, Watch U Seek and ebay.

I have no problem with you contacting my local AD to confirm the watch is real and where it was serviced (they sent it to Rolex for me).
Let me know if you have any questions or would like more information.

SOLD

My thoughts exactly!

I traded a NIB Sub Hulk that seems to be depreciating more and more (since they still make it) and got this one on the up swing. It is in really good shape and looks like its hardly been worn at all.
