I was at an SCCA National event in Mississippi many moons ago with my then week-old car, and there was a line of severe thunderstorms with hail and possible tornadoes forecast for Saturday evening. Knowing the forecast and seeing the storms approaching, I went out into the motel's parking lot and moved my car from its space to under the main entrance's awning. When the hailstones started dumping down, I watched two guys running across the parking lot with a mattress and blankets from their room to cover a Corvette!

Later in that season, I saw an Integra Type-R in the paddock of a Kansas event that was covered with 1" diameter dimples like a golf ball and missing rear hatch glass. A thunderstorm in Missouri where he lived did a number on his car the night before leaving home for the event.....
