I'm geniuinely curious, how did "penguin" become a nickname?
Like giraffe, sure maybe you're tall. Cheetah? "i run track brah" shark? maybe you like period sex for some reason (we had a guy in the frat that liked this ffs)

Sadly (or maybe thankfully) I have only 1 Russian dating story. Highschool, 10th grade. I was a completely awkward nerd. I'll just keep telling myself she was probably nuts.

Yep, I'm sure she was nuts. Ahem, yep, let's just go with that one. LOL.

My worse dating story that stuck with me for a long time was this girl I met while working in the car business. My nickname at the dealership was 'penguin' (long story, don't ask) and that's how I introduced myself to her. Well, she bought a car and then asked me out. Date went well and we ended up back at my place - an apartment I shared with another guy I worked with named 'P-Vich'.

Well, we are going at it in the bedroom and she is screaming my name, only she doesn't know my name, so it's just "Oh, Penguin!" over and over again. My roommate found this utterly hilarious.

To make matters worse, the poor girl was hearing impaired, so she had a bit of a speech issue and as such, it came out more like 'oh pung wung'.

Late in the evenings, when no more customers where at the dealership, multiple times a week, someone would get on the intercom and yell "Oh, pung wung!".

I'm instantly reminded of I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell. If you don't know, read the book forget the movie. In the event that you don't have time to read the book a very similar story is the opening scene in the movie. That guy is from Knoxville.

When I was in the military and/or government service, there was a time I had to don a PFP suite and OBA system. For reference, I am rather short. Both of these items are one size fits all. For reference, here are the items in question:

So, here I am wearing this "one size fits all" suit, which in government terms means it is simply large enough to fit the fattest bastard on the planet, so everyone else must fit too. This thing is quite bulky, because the chemical reaction going on in the OBA canister generates an enormous amount of heat, so there is a ton of insulation around the pack. The bottom hits me just below the belt, and the top of the pack where the hoses to the mask come out is just under my chin.

Here is what a normal size person looks like with an OBA on (less the PFP). So you can imagine a short guy wearing it.

Now, because of the situation, I was running at a pretty good clip, which wasn't really possible, so it was more of a waddle. Fellow cohorts in the adventure all started commenting that I looked like an alien penguin and the name stuck.

Years later, in the automotive business while finishing grad school, we all had nicknames and I mentioned this story to some of the guys who promptly started calling me Penguin. This was fine, until the 'Pung Wung' story came to light....

Not a dating story, and since I'm married I rarely have post worthy experiences to contribute but I had to share what happened earlier today.

So I'm up in whistler BC right now with some guys from work. All well into our 40s. All married. A fun but pretty tame crew. Got done skiing and hit the hot tub at the condo. Patio for the condo next door is 15 feet away. No fence. Out walks this super hot chick. Maybe 25. Having a smoke break. She's in a bathrobe but it's not tied closed. She just turns to us and strikes up a casual convo. Fully nude. "How you guys doing? How was the snow today?" Bathrobe wide open. She's like "oops. Well I guess I'll just flash you." Talked to us for like 5 minutes, bathrobe wide open. Wtf! It was so awesome!!! Made this old married dudes day.

Someone should create a site for all of the whack-jobs called UnHinged. It would do the world a service and it would have saved me quite a bit of trouble.

Had Hinge for a while based on recommendation from a buddy who met his current gf on there. After few weeks I didn’t even use it anymore. I feel like the quality of people on there is just terrible (kind of trashy). Most guys that women meet are bozos and vice versa. I’m not one of them and typically pretty picky. Hinge just didn’t do it for me.

i feel that, so if you don't mind me asking why are you looking for a relationship on apps/platforms? and if you're not looking for a relationship why are you using those instead of tinder/bumble

Honestly, I never believed in meeting people online. I personally much, much prefer to meet women in person. With the current lifestyle and work, however, it’s hard to meet people in person so I figured i’d try online dating. Got out of a 3 years relationship with someone that I once thought I’d propose to so took a while for me to get over it and worked on personal development. Went on some dates as well as turning down some. Recently I decided that I’m ready to really start dating again. I see some attractive ladies around work but it’s the workplace so always a bit iffy.

damn, sorry to hear that man, 3 years is definitely long - look at it on the bright side though, at least you guys figured it wouldn't work out before any longer lasting things happened.
