Guys guys..guys...the divorced guys are not saying all women are bad.
It happens. It's hit or miss...some people last for ages and grow old together and live great lives and have great kids and still have great sex. But well there is a chance it may go the other way. You just have to be smart, do your research and ask questions. Look at me, I was married for only 8 years. Ended with me not loosing much money...was just "given" an underwater condo and a few debts....hey I got off lucky when it came to money...but when it came to my emotions....I was fucked! And I still am. But will I ever get married again? Yeah sure why not! And before you call me a dumb ass here is how I see it. I was married for 8 years. For almost 6 of those 8 i was married to my best friend. She was awesome! Gorgeous....amazing.....hell we were dirt poor and she was happy with a pizza and a rented movie on friday nights because that's the best we had! She use to help me work on the car and well she was great! I miss that person.... Now the last two years......let's not talk about it. I hope now that I'm older and wiser and more stable in terms of finances and self understanding I may have a better idea of who I am and what and who I want in my life and maybe if i'm lucky the next one will last a life time? So yeah it's scarry.....but...well.....it's kind of worth it. |

Interesting developments to this thread.
I cant see myself getting married for just this reason..two close work colleagues have gotten their asses handed to them in divorce..all they do is complain about how much alimony they have to pay. They tell me how lucky I am and that I just stick with my GF and avoid marriage. Both have sworn off marriage and say they would just live with a girl from now on. One is paying for the house that his ex now lives in with her boyfriend..He's had to hire a PI to try and get evidence to take her to court to stop paying alimony.. |

I don't know guys....maybe i'm silly....I have a 12in titanium rod permanently inbeaded in my right shinbone from a skydiving accident and I still skydive...
I see being married as the same level of risk...yeah i can get hurt again but is the hurt worth the rewards? Yeah...for me yeah! But I am careful, I will never have kids and I will never ever forgo my friends for my wife. |

Losing my assets didn't hurt me much...But knowing that I have to pay her thousands of dollars every month rest of my life, and her enjoying my money with her boyfriend at some resort is the worst part to swallow |

also, swiss bank accounts don't give a fuck about civil suits, they'll only disclose if it's terrorism or some other major intl crime (and that's still a maybe). the swiss banks turned over about $20m that was embezzled from ex-taiwan convict president chen shui bian (do you really think that's all he jacked??) Unless there was an arrangement where she stays at home raising the kids and therefore was unABLE (not just unwilling) to develop a career and marketable skills, there should be no such thing as alimony. It's slavery. Nobody should own the fruits of the labor of another. All the kept men with ex-wives able to care from themselves should sue the government to change the law.

late arrival on this thread. So let's say you just never agree to divorce? Can you do that? I mean at some point if your wife is so miserable, shes going to just leave and find another guy. That's what my dad did with my mom. He wouldn't divorce her, 5 years later she was having an affair and the divorce went smooth from there.

I think it depends on the laws of your state but, generally, no.
Marriage really provides a dis-incentive in many ways to make a relationship work. Imagine if you had a job where, if you got fired, you got to keep half the company and still got paid. How hard would you work? Our legal system defends marriage...right. |

Hey everybody,
Quick update : it has been almost 4 months since my divorce. My X bought the house from me very low price. I knew I was losing tons of money but I wanted my daughter to live at the same place when she was with her mother. I have been giving her 4K a month and she is enjoying every penny of it: Taking vacations with her new boyfriend, spending more time at the malls than at home... But at the end, I am a lot happier than I have every been in the last 15 years yes, I had to change my life style because of losing decent part of my income and not buy certain things that otherwise I would have bought. But it is all worth it. So this is my advice to those whose marriage has no chance to get better : GET OUT OF IT AS SOON AS YOU CAN. THE SOONER THE BETTER!!!! Good luck all... |
