Had to have our oldest cat put down this morning. She's had kidney disease issues for the past year or so, but she really went downhill this past week and was suffering and not eating for the past few days. Still, nearly 21 years old is pretty good for a cat. She had a good life.

Sorry to hear, but as you said, that is a long life.

Sadly, kidney disease is a common problem for cats.

We had to do the same 13 months ago, then again 5 months later. Both of our wonderful kitties were ~20 old. And yes, both were diagnosed with signs of kidney failure about one year before we had to have them put down. As with yours, both went downhill quickly near the end, so we did what every good pet owner has to do. It was tough, as I'm sure you all-too-well know.

On an up note, we adopted the neighborhood stray about 10 months ago and he has turned out to be a wonderful kitty and has really bonded to us. He has helped fill a big hole.

Old photos -- I need to take some more recent pics of my aging llamas.

At one time, I had 14 llamas and one Great Pyrenees guardian dog. Now I'm down to four older llamas and a successor guardian dog.

People ask me what I do with my llamas -- my standard reply is that "I love them." I haven't sold a llama since 2000. Not exactly a money-making proposition. So they are in a semi-pet/semi-livestock status.

OCD psycho dog and I used to watch the Big Cat Diaries and Meercats on Animal Planet every morning, before they changed programming and went to reality TV. He loved barking to warn prey about the cats stalking them from the brush, and his breed was raised to kill anything like a meercat.....
