Most "authentic" food is not as good as the Americanized versions of them.

Man I agree 100%...

Especially rings true for Asian food and Mexican food.

...but not Italian... authentic is still better

But for my taste buds - pizza, Chinese food, Greek food, Mexican food - I prefer the Americanized versions.

Aren’t they retired?

I like their music from the late 60s and early 70s. 👍

If you're talking about Chinese, hell no. Ya, that does (hopefully) qualify as a unpopular opinion. Kung Pao chicken? Lee Fu Yuk whatever, I have no idea what all that stuff is, just fried and hard nastiness man haha. I remember an article from way back, probably in the 70s/80s, this Western news writer was writing that he flew to China and was aghast of the food they had there, "wow, they don't eat the same Westernized Chinese food as us, it's nasty!!!" Man, that was hilarious and clueless.

Orange Chicken for me please

This is only specific to Chinese food for me. I prefer westernized Chinese food. Other asian countries I absolutely love the traditional food over Americanized. Some of the best food I've had in my life were on trips to Thailand and Malaysia. But Chinese food? I'm sorry I just can't do it...

I will say there's certain dishes that I do enjoy. Does dim sum count? I love most of that especially earlier in the morning with a hot cup or two of tea. Also do enjoy rice casserole.

You know what I realized one of the problems is? I don't eat pork. So that limits a LOT of Chinese dishes. In Hong Kong I had so much trouble finding food that I could actually eat because 90% of it has pork in it

I'm not big on pork myself so that's really no excuse bro haha. Ya, dimsum is awesome.

Try some beef brisket/wonton soup noodles, Singapore fried noodles, beef vermicelli noodles, so many other fast food dishes that are better than those Westernized ones imo.

I'm with you on thinking "americanized" Chinese food tastes better than the real deal. I guess my tastebuds have been conditioned. But it's like junk food, with tons of sodium/msg and sugar, which unfortunately is what our tastebuds have come to like. I once gave up all processed sugar for a few weeks, and when I came back to it everything tasted way too sweet. I need to do that again, come to think of it.

But Filipino food? That's fantastic. In fact, "real" Filipino and Thai food are my favorites of the Asian cuisine.
