Sounds like you have it bad!!!!

If you are having that "itch" ......is there anything else out there you are possibly interested in?

Not really, other than a Sunbeam Tiger for my Dad. The Countach is just all I have ever wanted. Sure - there's cars I'd love to have, but I don't think I could justify a new exotic and the massive depreciation hit.

The Sunbeam would be a cool car to have. I remember watching one of the auto shows where they restored one.

Two things I can't help but mock whenever I see them on this forum:

"Build threads" that are 100% slapping on aesthetic parts. There's nothing wrong with doing it - heck that's basically most of the modding i do nowadays - but come on guys, we're not BUILDING anything

Roof boxes. What are you carrying in there?

Sorry if you do this - I realize I'm being judgmental and of course you can do whatever you want. But this is the confessional thread, after all.

Yeah - more his style than mine, but I did ask if he would like a summer toy to play with.

I'd love to restore a car, I just don't have the skill or confidence. I can barely bring myself to remove the gauge panel to add a ground wire or install LED bulbs let alone dismantle an entire car.

Nah you're all well and healthy, maybe you should seek help for someone to move all those cars around and keep the batteries charged every now and then.

Let me know where to send my resume!

I bet you would do better than you think. I got my start restoring old Mustangs. One of the easiest cars to learn with.

I moved on from there. They aren't exotics....but I did all of the work on every Corvette I ever had.

And recently did valvetrain work on my BMW.

Now I've screwed up stuff in the past, but it was always a learning experience.

If I get a RHD Countach, I won't be bringing it here. I would look to having it fully restored, or if already in great condition I would probably look to ship it to NZ and store it. My friends family owns a very large car museum and I considered contacting him to see if they want to display it for a few years.

I used to work on cars - just lost confidence, and I have a fear or pulling things apart and then being unable to put them back together.

I could start on an old Mustang rather than starting on a Countach, but I'd be worried about it jumping the curb and attacking pedestrians

Not many people are familiar with that tradition. I worked with a German friend years ago, and he was always mistaken for single as he had no ring on his left hand.

You can do a high speed drop off maneuver with the lid off.

Old mustangs are far better trained and don't have the pedestrian lust

I confess I have no idea who funds this website, brilliant update recently.... is it BMW directly? Clearly members aren't paying to keep it going.

I was surprised my gardener came last week. Not sure why they are essential. More puzzling though is watching the ice cream truck come down the block yesterday with driver wearing a mask.

I don't think that grass cutting is essential, but the money those individuals make is essential. Unless they are mowing within 6' of someone else, people are paying for the service and they are staying in guidelines, I don't see a problem. I don't foresee social distancing being an issue mowing someone's yard. Hell, maybe I'm part of the problem.

They're not part of the problem if they're doing it right, and quite frankly the more industries that can keep going and not endanger people the fewer people/companies needing government support. Someone ends up paying for all these people who are home and not working.

And that's on them. Most of the landscaping guys around here work independently (often hundreds of yards apart), and I guess because of the dry dust often times they're wearing bandannas over their faces even prior to the pandemic.
