This new gen/platform has a lot of potential . Especially the locking differential .. which is a first for an M-lite , I think . Maybe 2/3 series in past offered I'm not sure

But that along with a host of other upgrades + specially tuned Xdrive , new dampers , M adaptive suspension definitely enhances the handling & feel. A real winner

So doesn't surprise me it drives better than the current gen X3 m40i. It's also about 5-600 lbs lighter in weight . But when the next gen X3 (G45) comes out it might be a different story.

The 1st Gen X2 M35i had the LSD up front. That car, however, was really more like they stretched a MINI JCW GP under an X2 body and threw in AWD as an afterthought. It was teeth-rattlingly stiff, the 8 speed Aisin was only good in Sport mode and even with XDrive and the lsd you could get some torque steer if you cooked it right.

It had hilariously ridiculous grip, until you hit an expansion joint on a high curving overpass and damn near crapped yourself when it pogoed over it. If you weren't paying attention pulling into traffic from a side road, the 8 speed had a dead spot that also made you wonder if you were about to get up close and personal with the F150 coming up. It was NOT a fan of high speed emergency lane changes. It ate tires like a toddler on a bag of Cheetos. It was equal parts thrilling and annoying as all get out.

I miss the damn thing every day. These new M35i cousins have a lot to live up to.

So ..., my car is in transit again. I was let know a week ago that it is part of the stop sale and it was held at port in LA. But now it shows is in transit again (from LA to the dealership), so maybe this was solved?

My car finally made it to Anchorage yesterday, along with 8 inches of snow. I'll be heading straight from the airport tomorrow afternoon to go pick her up. Still bummed I missed out on taking my road trip though.

Angry The long waiting game...

Well... my car has been at the port for 9 days without a transport assigned. This is after being in quality check for 4 weeks which I understand is a process that takes 20 min. I was told there are no parts issues or stop sales on these cars... BMW Genius let me know that they were just being sure everything was perfect... Now that's a Genius response.

In a couple of weeks I'll be in Europe and I could probably drive it home faster. BMW Genius is pretty useless and my salesperson is no longer with the dealership, which I found out when my rep's Email bounced back. You would think that when a salesperson is let go, and he has customers with cars in the system, the sales manager would be on the phone to each and every one of them. Real good customer service Seattle BMW.

I've custom ordered a few cars from BMW over the years, 12 to be exact but this order has been the most frustrating. Perhaps the car might arrive by Christmas?

HO Ho ho...

Well, I was informed today that the X1 M35 work order has been completed at the Baltimore VPC so I guess the plastic trim pieces showed up. It has been released to transport from Baltimore. They claim it will be on a truck tomorrow or Monday heading for the dealer in Ohio. I am hoping that all of the x1 builds will now move on to the dealers and we can finally get our cars.

That's fantastic news for everyone who have been in limbo waiting for vehicles with little information.

Stuck at the port for 9 days and counting (DMason) is not good news for us.

Mine is still "at the port" in Baltimore. Been 15 days due to the stop sale. To those whose X1s have been released: how long have you been at the port?

As a fellow Ohioan, hoping mine is on the same transport as yours!

Thanks.

Was discussed a couple pages ago in this thread. There was 2 options, performance and high performance that could have been speced.

Performance is Continentals and high performance are Pirelli Pzero summer tires.

At least based on what others have posted.

Thanks but I know the two options. I was enquiring about the tire itself. Mine is at the dealership and I'll be getting it later this week, my CA sent me pictures and it shows it with Conti Ecocontact 6.0. The tires are not (BMW star) rated but (MO) which means Mercedes original equipment. I contacted BMW USA with a few questions and still waiting for response.

That’s very weird… please let us know what you find out.

This is with the 872 wheels? Performance option?

Did you ever see what the model of the tires were?

Here is the photo. Not sure if the ECOcontact 6 is considered a performance tire. My main concern is the tires not having the BMW Star rating.

Here is BMW Corporate's response;

"Thanks for writing to BMW of North America, LLC regarding the tires on your new 2024 BMW X1 M35i. Congratulations on your new BMW!

While I don't see a problem with taking delivery of a BMW without BMW Approved Tires, other than ensuring the best tires for your BMW have been equipped. I recommend speaking with the sales team at your authorized BMW center as they are in the best position to address the tires on your BMW further."

Tires fir M35i

Mine was delivered with Continental EcoContact6 performance tires. Given Indiana winter temperatures I decided to buy a set of Continental All-Season Extreme Contact DWS 06Plus. So I now have an extra set of 20" tires in my garage.

By the way, for all of you veterans or active duty military, make sure you check out the BMW Military Incentive plan offered for the month of November only to those eligible. Up to a $1500 discount if you take delivery in November.

This is super weird to me… I have never seen a manufacturer ship a car with another manufacturers tires…

That said, someone here did say they were told that the tires were supposed to be some kind of Pirelli but they were downgraded for some reason. Maybe those tires were not available? Still very weird. We’ll see what my car arrives with in a few weeks but I am assuming they will be the same as yours.
