Ha yeah how could I forget that guy too....
Thing is, we got rid of all of them when we were terrible and not because we just had better options. They were all let go because they were simply terribad. However, I think Marinelli is actually good at his role. He's just not a good head coach. Martz... well... I don't know what happened with him. He was great at what he did for a while but since has proven that he might have been solved. I think Cutler was just getting good in that system though. The injuries killed you guys this year. |

Yea, I like Marinelli as D coordinator. But it's such a "first blush" reaction that of course the Bears hire the only go to go 0-16 as head coach. Mike Tice has done pretty well with the bullshit he has to work with as well, IMO. It was basically over with Cutler's injury, but 0-4 with the backup/s is unacceptable, considering the quality of teams played in that stretch. That's on the Bears & Angelo for being unable to acquire depth on their roster. Caleb has been an NFL backup for 4 yrs with the Bears. The Bears had 4 years to realize he fucking sucks dick. Credit to Martz, who didn't want him anyway

I'll have to agree that Hanie is garbage. I've seen my share of worthless QBs in the NFL so I've gotten pretty good at identifying them. How does he end up being #2 anywhere? That's mind-boggling.
Barber's no Forte, but he's still acceptable as a backup. Your defense is still performing really well overall. If you had a half decent #2 QB and half decent remaining O-line, there's no way you go 0-4 during that stretch against those teams. |

Exactly, the Bears have the least depth at the most important position on the field. The guy who touches the ball more than any player on the field. But shitty player evaluation is nothing new for the Bears...should I start rattling off failed free agents and draft picks?
Overall, last year especially, and for the first part of the season, I think the Bears exceeded playing expectations in a lot of ways. I have somewhat changed my mindset on Lovie and the coaching staff (minus Martz), I used to think they were a major problem, and despite angering mistakes (retarded challenges, 1st and 3rd quarter timeouts) I gotta put the majority of this blame on Angelo. Sure, he's responsible for a few good players, Briggs, Hester, Tillman, Forte (can't remember if he was there for Urlacher's draft) and trades/free agents like Cutler and Peppers. But the list of failed players and lack of depth greatly outweighs these successes. Additionally, the Bears seem to have nearly no fucking clue how to draft, trade, and run offensive players. Their franchise quarterback was a proven commodity in Denver already. Forte has turned out to exceed expectations, but I can't name a receiver in recent years that would start on a good offense like the Packers or Saints or Patriots. The defense is getting older, their window is closing. Cutler has been injured bad enough to keep him from playing 3 times (concussion, ankle, thumb) in less than 2 seasons. A radio show likes to refer to NBA teams who are consistently low seeds in playoffs as being in "NBA hell" - not bad enough to get good picks or to catalyze sweeping organizational change but not good enough to win anything, and to me the Bears are looking more and more like an "NFL hell" type team Anyway, it's not good for me to think about it. Almost time to go to my Omer avatar for Bulls season...my first true Chicago sports love... Last edited by BTM; 12-20-2011 at 01:38 PM.. |

and the Bears season is officially over with 1 more game to go and no playoff contention..
McGown earned at least a strong consideration for back up qb next season. Bell showed some promise, he needs to address his grip a bit, but field awareness and movement is there, hoping we pick up a WR or two (as there are a few up for contract) and CB in the off season, and the only cowboy I'd like to see back in a bears uniform is barber...hopefully JA 'retires" and we evaluate our coaching staff strongly, especially martz IMO... thanx for another season, hoping all the players rest up, heal, and come back stronger... BEAR DOWN

no it isn't. Both teams won 8 games, and the bears beat the eagles. Tiebreaker goes to the bears, were it a playoff berth situation.

meh whatever. Both teams were disappointments. But by the way the NFL calculates it, the bears had a better record. Not trying to say the bears don't have a shitload of problems. Lets go bulls
