Nah guys, I have to go back to my laundry room. Six hours of installing a fucking shelf and I'm happy to report I've fucked it up completely or partly six times! I'm going to do it right this time and then I'll give you an update!

Anyway, I got the family room done, library is a work in progress... laundry room has one shelf missing since there were some mild issues with measuring, hinges, boards, tools, patience, the thingies holding it up, the screws, patience, and patience. I'm happy to report they burned fast and my perfectly smooth day got a nice warm ending.

In theory, a person who can build a house should be able to build and instal a simple shelf on a top of a laundry machine. It is not that hard. In theory.

Oh, now THIS I can relate to. Luckily the shelf ended up covering all the probing drill holes to find the stud that the stud finder kept saying was there but really wasn't.

I'm burning the material drawn to shit by now, that warms my toes by warming my wood burning stove thingy!

It's a hard room! I honest to coffee don't care, not one bit what goes in since I sure as fuck don't do laundry, and folding sheets is really not my thing but apparently by family law I need to build a place to put the stupid sheet flattening thingy on, handle the minor design failure in the electrics and then close the door and never visit again.

My plan of avoiding the space is not going along so well. Fixing my own fuckups is a mountain I wish I could skip.

I might have mentioned my lack of dining room sets in the past? I may have, it appears to be a real issue in my life!

So the Christmas is coming, and instead of cleaning a house, or cooking, or shopping, or building something useful, I spent my day doing the most reasonable thing a person can do when they've spent most of the autumn hauling dinner tables to storages: I built a new one!

About 9 years ago, a shed basically formerly owned by my family was being taken down, they moved it to some picturesque museum yard. I got curious and went to see if there was anything fun in there still, and I found a sheet pressing thingy from the 19th century. Don't ask me how it worked, all I know is that the whole way to my aunt's barn was frozen solid, it was so dark I haven't burned dinners that well ever and my husband was extremely happy when he figured out the damn press had two huge rocks inside it when we managed to get it to a storage.

Well today I thought he might have cooled off enough that I should haul it to the house, and make a dining room table out of it!

I stole the kids sledge and went to pick it up from the barn, I'll spare you the details but it wasn't as much fun and it hadn't lost any weight in the years gone by as I thought. It hadn't shrank either.

Anyway, I found worn wood to make legs out of and I had to put new planks to the sides so one could sit near it (and I will be redoing that in the morning since measuring is not a part of my skill set) and tomorrow I have to use the finishing method Joekerr suggested a while back to harden the surface or to burn down the house, but tonight I shall enjoy the age old hobby of mine, hauling around tables and chairs. What could be more fun....



The kid is pretending he is me, he wouldn't dare to sit with his feet on the table otherwise.




I swear to coffee I will die under a table slide (mudslide, table slide. It can happen!) and my spouse will demand that my grave will be dug as an extra wide just so he can bury all my treasures with me.

Doesn't mean he wasn't a bitch! I'm supposed to be making hoods for the chairs, I have eight of them so I need a minimum of ten hoods and operating a sewing machine clearly is not a talent of mine. Something good did come out of this day!

Squerrils get a ton of credit for their habit of stashing food, since nobody ever remembers they forget over 90% of their stashes. Apparently I'm like a squerril.

Everyone in our family except me has a severe candle allergy. I burn them everywhere, the flames are just too damn cute and over the years everyone has endured a ton of time hauling them around and hanging them up, setting them up, down, on the walls, to the floors, building tiny snow castles for them, icing trees so candles could light them up... I'm sure I'm forgetting some of the torture my poor family has endured due to me but they can hash it all out in therapy after I die in a weird stearine accident.

Today I honestly was just trying to find a a fabric, and I found a huge box marked with a label "marriage licence and other important papers." I knew for a fact I wouldn't have bothered to save anything like that, so I dug up the box and I found my beautiful, rusty, crooked candle thingies! I completely forgot to refinish the table and redo the sides because I was too busy installing, cleaning and finding more treasures.

I'm so going to end up alone, bitter, under a pile of weird tables but in a well light room maybe even tonight. The spouse will not be pleased.

The hubby should be home any minute now. I'm pretending that and the one hanging in our bedroom and the one in the tv room have always been there and he just hasn't paid attention to them. I have the kids bribed and all.



So this piggy went hiding next to a halfway I probably should have finished today.

These little piggies are shielded by duct tape, which everyone knows can never be seen!

Babe, that's a a 200 hundred or so (the first picture I have of it is from 1882 but it is older than that) household appliance they needed a whole building to operate on laundry days. It retired in the 1950's when electronic versions of what it did made things easier and it was left to a shed or a barn for 60 years before I went and stole it (sorry guys, only the logs it was built from were sold, that was a non value thing left to the relatives to collect before the garbage man came. I just love saying I stole it).

This is what I do Wade, I take old stuff nobody wanted and give them a new life. This one has broken arms, worn women down, it took four women to operate it apparently. it weighs more than my ego can carry with the side muscles still acting up. I've had old sewing machines as sink holders, old floor boards go to frame my mirrors, an old outhouse is now my future patio...

I would be more than happy for your friend to send me pics of the space they want a table in, and if they could say what materials they want for it, measurements also needed for seating (yes, I do American too, even if your measuring system is stupid) and all this will cost your friend the usual goat if I can come up with what he needs.

I don't work for money, silly! I love seeing old stuff getting new lives!
