I meant an LCI model in terms of the lighting upgrades. Not the engine. I didn't mean it in the sense of the new engine for the M240i. |

Can't wait to see these organic lights in person. I prefer to call them lazer lights though.

They're not laser lights, though. BMW's laser headlights are an entirely different thing, and those aren't slated to come to the US for a while.

Got it. Still seems like historically the M models are a step behind the non-M counterparts, even with production dates being close. The e92 M3 never even got the cool, white halogens that had been present on the LCI non-Ms for a while.

I hope CarPlay is an optional thing. I have CarPlay on my other car and never use it. I like the iDrive interface SO MUCH more.
Besides, CarPlay is very limited. If you want to switch to FM radio or a CD, you can't do that from within CarPlay. You have to exit CarPlay first. That's not a smooth, quick operation when driving.

That said, I haven't actually used CarPlay, but think Apple in general has UI down way better than BMW. |

That's some nice updates, about the CarPlay will it be a Dual Boot thing with iDrive?
I never tried CarPlay with a car that has a decent system; ie BMW iDrive or Audi MMI for example...

Not to mention:
Brakes DCT Real suspension Exhaust Substantive motor/cooling changes Wheels Wider track/body Etc, etc... Basically the same list of shit that's different between a 3er and M3, 4er and M4, etc., etc... I lived with a 235 for 17 months - the M2 is going to be a very very different experience...and I know that because I have driven the F80X M cars enough to know that firsthand.

I agree. IMO CarPlay is great for those cars who don't have an established or polished infotainment system (majority of the car industry). I don't blame BMW for taking their time in implementing CarPlay. I think BMW has done a great job with improving iDrive over the years. Unless you absolutely need iOS-like functionality in your BMW, I don't see why you would use CarPlay over iDrive with its built in iPhone support (assuming you have the required add ons).
