I did this yesterday and Drive Recorder is now back. Since the update I am very happy, things just work. For now

OK Update installed itself yesterday. UK 2024 X30e PHEV Running ID9. I know Android auto is well known for dropping out when cell reception drops when using wireless connection but With my previous BMW running ID8 it would at least restart itself when reception returned but this one appears to need to be manually restarted by going into the menu and selecting it on the touch screen (Very safe I'm sure). I did once get it to restart by saying ok google (In conversation) but have never got that to work again. With it not being able to use a usb cable to connect (Why not at least allow this as an option) in a hit and miss reception area it makes AA almost useless. Side note Spotify through the car has never dropped out but of course through AA drops with the app

I have never had AA drop. For your case I would also try a factory reset.

Also, make sure your phone is up to date as well as Android auto.

My car got 11/2023.73 as an OTA update over the weekend. Here’s what I’ve found:-

• Load time is vastly improved and overall UI feels “snappier” to coin the Apple parlance.
• Driver Recorder now installed. Augmented View in the navigation now works.
• Spotify seems to be working properly again. I certainly haven’t had to uninstall/install/login since the update.
• Icon Sounds seem quieter, but that maybe just a settings change.
• Clutch/gearbox is still thick as custard, but I’ve got used to flicking to the sport setting of the gearbox when pulling away at traffic islands, junctions etc.

I was under the impression that Drive Recorder and Augmented View were part of a dealer only update. I have an appointment with my BMW service centre which I may cancel and live with the car for a week or so (and avoid any risk of getting hit with the £180 “diagnostic fee” l).

I will update again after a week which should be plenty of time for old problems to re-surface.

Ill try the reset although the car is only a month old and I presumed the update would achieve the same result.

I run two phones my work one is on Android 12 and personal one is Android 13 neither will update to Android 14 due to their age but I'm reluctant to change a perfectly good phone on the off chance of getting a more stable AA experience, so its something I will just have to live with.

You mean like system settings - reset vehicle data? I’ve already tried restarting the car many times, hard reboot of the system (holding down the volume knob), not sure what you mean by restart idrive system

You could try a full factory reset (available in the settings menu).

So not sure if this is an isolated case but just realizing now or maybe it works differently on my iD9, but to access shortcuts from an Apple CarPlay screen, you need simply tap where the menu lives (top of screen) and it prompts it down.

Just thought I’d share in case some one else has the same issue, going to try to replicate it tomorrow.

Hi Splont, now that your Drive recorder is working can you advise if it is on a separate App with the other Apps. My Connected Drive is advising that it is active but I can't see how to use it, there must be settings to change things and facilitate the recordings but there isn't an App showing in my car.

Yes it's a separate app that appears at the bottom of the app list. When it first activated months ago it took its time to appear.

However when then it vanished only a complete reset got it working again.

Strange. Mine (USA 2024 x28i) updated to 03/2024.30 from 11/2023.58 a few weeks ago. It appears different vehicles may get different updates at different times.

I noticed that the phantom/base consumption (when car is running, but stopped) in my iX1 is decreased by ~50%. It used to be 0.6-0.7 kWh/h and its just 0.3-0.4.

I also saw that in the seat settings, there is a "Seat Climate Control" which is "Feature Currently unavailable". Not sure if it was there before, especially since X1 doesn't have seat ventilation.

The latest update (03/2024) has been withdrawn for some reason. Just noticed in the app it’s no longer urging me to update and says that they’ve withdrawn the latest update and they will notify when a new version is available… on the car status page it now says I’m up to date on 11/2023…
