Anyone in long beach want to get a group together to do this?
I have the DVDs, but dont have the nutrition plan, if anyone can make a copy for me that would be great I have the pull up bar, bowflex adjustable dumbells, yoga blocks, and yoga mat. ready to go. i just need to be pushed seeing as i hate working out alone. chris |

I'm ramping up slowly, I am week 2 of Insanity, I'm really enjoying the workouts, I plan to do P90X when I am done with this one.
I had already lost 20lbs from the first of the year by eating better and regular exercise, now I am seeing results in my tone, balance, and strength. |

This thread has kind of died down in the last month or so, but I hope everybody out there is sticking to the program. Today is my graduation day from p90x! I was super motivated not to miss any workouts and I'm very happy with the results. I look better and feel better, just in time for pool season! Keep pushing play, do your best and forget the rest!!!

Haha not gonna post pics because (1) I never took before pics and (2) my results are not nearly as dramatic as what you see from other p90x success stories. But to give you an idea, I am about 5'7" and weighed in at around 148lbs at the start of the program, so it wasn't like I was way out of shape or anything. I would run on a fairly regular basis and lift weights every once in a while. My goal in doing p90x was really to get build strength and develop definition in my arms, shoulders, chest, back and abdominals. But because I'm not very tall, I did not want to add bulk. Really looking for the lean, cut look... imagine Bruce Lee. As a result, I was going for 12-15 reps (and even more) on the workouts, as opposed to 8-10. I did not follow the diet plan religiously, but I definitely ate much healthier. I ate five meals a day, with two of those meals consisting of whey protein shake after doing p90x in the mornings and a cassein protein shake at night before I went to bed. The diet was probably harder for me than the workouts becuase I have a huge sweet tooth as well as an appetite for fast food. I was able to cut fast food out and have not seen a burger since I started p90x, but desserts and pastries were tought o completely cut out. As a result, I did extra cardio at nights, usually jogging or interval sprinting two miles. Not only did this compensate for times when I strayed from the diet, but this also got my body warm for the ab ripper x routines, which I would do at nights when it was on the schedule. Fast forward 90 days later and I have much more tone and definition in the areas that I wanted. My abs have definition for the first time in my life, although I really want to have a ripped core like the black dude in the ab ripper x routine haha! I also have a lot more definintion in my calves and quads which is nice. The biggest surprise was my weight. I am now down to about 136-138lbs, so I lost about 10 lbs!!! I really did not think I had much weight to lose, but I guess I did. I really wish I would measure my body fat percentage and so how much it changed. Anyway I def think p90x is a great program but it takes a lot of discipline. You have to really want to do the workouts and stay on track with what you eat. I also noticed that the last couple weeks were tough to stay motivated because by then I had seen the DVD's about a dozen times each and I just wanted to be done with the program. I have moved on the Insanity now, which is a great change of pace and probably after I am done with that I will figure out some sort of hybrid program with p90x and Insanity. Good luck to all you guys in the program and hang in there!

is this something you do instead of going to the gym or is this a supplement to your weekly gym routine?

@coh4777 - Ya this thread has died down a little bit. For me, After almost 3 months of it, I kinda gotten bored LOL. I usually do with any workout really. I change things up quite a bit every 2-3 months. The 2 biggest problems I have with the whole workout/dieting (I'd like to call it "healthy lifestyle") are: 1) Had to cut out desserts/pastries/and fruit when it is past 7pm 2) Need to buy a whole new set of trendy jeans since I've gotten down 3 pant sizes lol. Might reach 4 sizes if I can reach that 8% pbf. Currently at 12.5% pbf. |

im talking about p90x in general. is this a workout routine most people do in lieu of going to the gym or do they do both? It's b/c i'm used to working out 4 days a week following my routine and i feel like i hit a plateau and I've been considering p90x but if I miss a week at the gym it makes it harder for me to maintain the "strength" of how much weight i lift

The program was designed to replace going to the gym, but I'm sure there are some people out there who somehow manage to do both.

True, the whole P90X program was to replace ur gym routines. If you really hit a plateau, I'd suggest doing the ful P90X program.
The reason why I don't really do it anymore is because I'm already used to changing up my excercise routines every few monthes. It's all about muscle confusion |

i play a lot of sports, im usually within 5 lbs of my regular weight...which hover at 150-155...then i got into a motorcycle accident, my friend rode behind me and couldn't stop in time because this lady turned left infront of us...so he plowed into my leg and jacked it up...i couldn't be active so i started partying a lot, way too much...drinking beer and taking shots and eating at 5am is the most horrible thing u can do to your body...so yeah i put on an extra 10 lbs, tits sagging, beer gut, lack of energy, sleep all the time...one day my gf told me, "honey ur getting fat" that then, i looked in the mirror and realize shit, she's right..
so i started getting into P90X...it was very discouraging because i can barely do half of the exercises they do...doing 20 pull ups right after doing 30 pushups? get out of my face, not gonna happen....so i did what i could, i go until failure...i gave up drinking, i drink more water and eat healthier, incorporate more fruits and veggies into my diet...i took a before pic, which is on the left, and about 3 weeks into P90X (pic on right)...i look like my old self, but im not stopping, i also joined a gym last week and is going to start bulking up...so hopefully by summer i'll be ripped... this might not look like much to you guys, but i definitely feel healthier and more energetic...lost the gut and the upper abs are starting to come out...

thanks man, for those that doubt P90X...don't, it really works if you keep at it...you are NOT going to keep up with them...doing 20 pulls up right after 30 push ups? get out of my face..not gonna happen...but if you can do half that, or go until failure, you will get results...some sooner than others...eat right, and stay away from anything sweet

Starting a new round of P90X Sunday, Jan 2. This will be my 3rd time through P90X.. have done it twice and P90X+ 1.5 times.. ( I say 1.5 because I decided to stop the current round last week, taking a break and starting P90X again.
Anyone else starting a new round beginning Jan?

I have dumbbells (5 through 50 lbs) and a pull-up bar in a room with a TV/DVD player so I just use that. You don't need a lot of weights, but I would think you need some as there are weight lifting days and cardio days with the program. You also need about 1 hour - 1.5 hours a day (6 days a week) for the program. I probably need to get a llittle heavier dumbbells for several exercises now, but may just continue to use the 50's where I can.
