Me, too. Haven't had it since I retired. The campus snack bar had it now and then. Might have to try my hand at baking some.

My wife and I have been watching 1883. It's a great show and I recommend it.

I know I'm old when I did the math and determined my birth year is closer to 1883 than 2022. Damn I'm old!

I remember moving out here to IL like it was yesterday. We came here because Wifey got a job offer she couldn't refuse. That job started 20 years ago today. Zoiks.

You remember buying beer, cigarettes and placing a bet at a shady bar for my grandpa while he waited in the car.
He was paralyzed and it was a tough for him to get in and out of the car.
I got some pork rinds, shot glass of beer and the change for my troubles.
I was 10 years old.

You bought beer off the shelf instead of from the cooler because room temp beer was cheaper.

That must be a long time ago. Couldn't even find anything related to a price differential on google search... All returns a related to the taste.

I remember my 1st warm beer (stout) was during a NATO cross-poll on an UK frigate back in the 70's.

I understand that I'm old when my back hurts. I especially think about this when I say that in my childhood everything was different and people were kinder... lol

This was mid-70s. I was reading an article about modern refrigeration the other day. They also commented on how expensive it used to be for stores to run refrigerated sections and that cold beer and soda was priced higher because of it. Most stores had a few refrigerated areas for milk and meat and such. Now even gas station marts have entire walls of refrigerated shelving. If I recall correctly, the difference in price wasn't huge. Maybe a buck. But when you and your buddies were pooling your change to come up with a couple of dollars for a 6-pack, it made a difference.

The stores used to do the same thing with soda and other beverages, charging extra if it came from the refrigerator versus a warm shelf.....
