Yeah, he has some vids that show the wind and rain aren't as bad as the storm surge which is swamping the boats. When the boat floats up enough to reach the end of the mooring rope, it starts going under. I think if I had a boat I cared about, I would have had it out of the water.

So as I stated earlier, I have been editing some of my older shots. Would love any and all C&C on these shots...

The first is crazy, with a strange color cast, the garage door opener is reflected in the middle of the windshield and the clutter in the garage fights with the car for your attention.

The second is much better with a more natural color cast. The angle looks intentional, if a little contrived, but I guess all angle shots look contrived to me. It's in vogue these days, so I'll give full credit here. I'd try to get a cleaner background.

I appreciate the feedback, unfortunately there is not much I can do about the background with these shots as I do not have my m3 any longer. I too thought that the other pieces in the garage were fighting for attention, but I hadnt even noticed the reflection of the garage opener.

Well, you can't go back in time, can you?

Clearly, you're not paying enough attention to BG if you didn't notice that big honking reflection in the windshield. Focus on cleaning up your BGs in future shooting. It's a common issue. We lovingly look at our whip in the viewfinder and totally miss someone mooning you off on the edge. Yeah, an exaggeration, but it points out the need to see the complete image as your composing. Often, by changing your angle of view, or using bokeh, you can take something unwanted out of the BG.

Thanks, Trevor! Your shot looks great, too. Love the b&w processing and angle of the shot.

I was shooting birds along a ridge road with my 500mm lens when these flowers caught my eye against the sky. I love the way this demonstrate that lens' great color and contrast.

Great gull portrait. Looks like he should send it home to his momma.

I wouldn't normally do this, but I like the vignetting, bringing focus onto the bird without cropping as tightly. Lighting is great. I could only see in the Large size on Flickr, so I couldn't count feathers and pixel-peep. Looks great in the Large size.

Is it wrong that, even when on vacation, that every time I saw a cool bird or a nice bridge that I thought about Dave and Tim respectively? If I get the chance to shoot something like that the first thing that would cross my mind would be, "now is this worthy of Dave or Tim?"

Thanks for the compliment Adrean, I think. I hope other people think, "Maybe I can do that" and try.

Here's THE image that drew me into birds and wildlife photography. I was staying in a high rise hotel on the South Florida coast in the spring of '09 when I noticed an osprey hunting off the top of the building. I was only two stories from the top and pulled out my 5D MkII and my 70-200mm f/4L IS and kept shooting as the osprey road the sea breeze off the front of our building. This is a heavy crop (around 80%), but the 5D2 stands up to that really well:

OpspreyHeadEyeLevel by dcstep, on Flickr

A few days after getting back to Colorado I ordered my 400mm f/4.6L and the rest is history. Just like almost anything, you get better the more you do it.
