Below is the expected effect of the coming El Niño as shown in the current issue of The Economist. It looks like Ontario will generally be unaffected, while down here in Ohio we should expect less precipitation from December through March.

It's surprising the rain your wider region is receiving. I was looking a images of flooding in Las Vegas earlier today.

Yeah, there was some flooding nearby here as well but it was mostly in the burn areas.

Yeah, it’s been lightly raining here. Very nice. Won’t have to do any watering tomorrow. Keeping things nice and cool. Currently 70°F and I’ve opened up all the windows and there’s a nice breeze blowing.

Looks like NYC will finally get their first heat wave (3 days of 90+ F highs) of 2023 this week...in September! The long-term forecast is hinting at a refreshing cool-off early next week here.....

Non-stop thunderstorms since around 2 PM here, with torrential downpours and flash flood warnings galore. Had a lightning strike VERY close to my car stopped in traffic on an urban road, which is the last thing that someone 100% dependent on their pacemaker and driving the only BMW model that's not a Faraday cage wants to experience.....

We had training thunderstorms here again yesterday evening until after midnight. More of the same through mid-week in the long-range forecast. After that, the forecast is for sunny with highs in the low 70's F and lows in the low 50's F starting on Thursday.....
