If you're lucky enough to have a black z4 then go to an auto parts store, buy the assortment package of panel fasteners, file slightly to fit in keyhole, and your done. All for a couple of dollars. I'll take some pics tonight when I get home. The assorted package contained a large fastener that worked on the trunk and a smaller one that worked on the door.

But why would I do that when someone else already makes them painted to match my car?

I don't know why you would but for me it boils down to this - $13.95 per plug (one for door and one for trunk) & $5.95 shipping & waiting at the mailbox vs $3.24 for a whole bunch of plugs and 3 minutes of effort to make them fit.

For me it is more than that. I don't think there are any titanium silver plugs at the hardware store, so that means I would have to buy whatever plugs I could find, then I would have to go to BMW and get the matching paint, then take the time to fit them, paint them ,etc.

Personally, I can afford the 13.95 plus shipping so no big deal. Not worth a DIY to me.

Did you use the same plug for the trunk as you did for the door??

Well, here is my attempt at adding some pics of the fasteners. Like I said if you have a black z4 (sapphire black in my case) this is pretty straight forward. I'd buy the plugs if I had any other body color.

LOL I just got why I was "lucky enough" to have a black one. Duh! I'm going to pick some of these up today. Worst case scenario I don't like it and I lose $2 I guess. I'll post a pic when I do it. Yay, my first diy!

For a grand total of 90 cents, 5 mosquito bites, and almost getting attacked by a guy with a "$5 Pizza" sign I have my plugs installed! Thanks for your help Jarrow!

Panel fasteners, got it, I'll check out my local auto store sometime and pickup a pack. Are they glossy like that? It looks good cause it's glossy and matches the paint, a flat black one would stick out I think. Veruca can you get a shot of the box you got your fasteners in? Or where you got it and what it's called? Thanks

Mixed reviews of BumperPlugs.com

I coughed up the cash to try out BumperPlugs.com.

The driver's side door lock looks great!!!
Color and size are perfiect!!!

The trunk plug is too small.
(they're designed for Porches )
