This also seems to share a lot of design cues from the upcoming XM. Side silhouette, the rear spoiler shape, the side window shape

Yeah, DCT's in lower powered cars isn't an issue and never has been...its when you get into the 300 , 400, 500hp with torque range they become an off the shelf issue.

Indeed. iX1 here in the US could grab a lot of Model Y buyers.

IDK the IX1 is a compact suv, and with that, in EV form, it would be limited as only so much room for battery... It probably won't get a ton of range so it wouldn't be competitive with the Y. This is a FWD platform and I think perhaps will be shared with mini???

For an entry level SUV it looks two generations better. Great job BMW. If they don't raise the price too much they will sell in record numbers.

Its about the same size as a Ioniq 5 or EV6 and look how well those are selling. I would think iX1 would sell pretty well too. Major missed opportunity IMO.

Agree, but unlike those two it's not a dedicated EV platform from the ground up so...i doubt it would get close in range.

Anyone know the KWH for the iX1?

I also think it will be interesting to see how bmw does this the power of choice and will see if you have three options for the same car with different powertrains that folks pick. How it makes them go in one direction or another.

Wish they would put that cup holder in the center footwell on the iX. Am I the only one who doesn't like the open footwell from driver to passenger on the iX?

Hard not to like it. Looks great. Now let's just hope it doesn't drive like the previous X1 and we have a winner.

True, it's a different size/segment. But I imagine there are still lots of EV shoppers that wouldn't mind something smaller than a Y, but nicer than a Bolt EUV.

From what I'm reading it should be 67.5 usable 70 net which is less than the Hyundai/Kia but still pretty competitive I think.

On the non-dedicated platform, the i4 also has a slightly lower range compared to a TM3 but they still brought that over here and looks like itll be a major player in that segment.

If I wanted a Skoda, I'd just buy a Skoda.

Also: WHERE TF is the iDrive knob? Why remove the one thing that made BMW interiors better than the rest???

True... Maybe they want to avoid the price and comparison and save it for the new IX3 or whatever its called...

Did they make the backseats bigger so I can actually fit a car seat back there and sit comfortably?

Probably crunched the numbers and they thought $ wise it wouldn't be competitive vs the slightly bigger options out there.

Let's be real here the same way we hammer BMW for strange designs, we should clap when good designs arrive This is actually one of the best new designs in the last few years … the interior is just 100 times better that the current generation
