if I have to do it again, I'll probably use masking tape and cover up any trim piece that I don't want scratched.

once you get the new cupholder, you can see where the clips are up close and that will help you in the removal process.

good luck!
Amazing!! Thank you!

too bad Austria is so far away.... I would have gladly traded my US cupholder for your European cupholder. I only use the cupholder for my sunglasses and phone. I do not eat or drink when I drive.

Would’ve been a great swap! Especially given the ridiculous price they’re charging for it!
Absolutely no food in the car, but I need my ice cold drinks in the summer

Nice write-up! If anyone is interested in an alternate option that may be a bit less involved to set up, Escort M1/M2 Dashcams borrow power from your Radar Detector. This is what I have run in all my cars for years, taking power from the rearview mirror to power the radar detector. See a picture of the setup below.

Not the best Dashcam around for sure but a good option.

I used the Dongar dongle to tap into the rearview, then used a USB splitter to power my dashcam and radar detector.
Works well, but stays powered after the engine shuts off (maybe powers down after a while?).
