Apple has 75+% in first world countries like US and Australia. Global is a different matter. A lot comes down to cost which of course changes the dynamic in poorer countries.

Also. Google Maps is now a train wreck. Even worse design than BMW’s current stuff. Absolute mess of design and fairly average navigation. At least Google had the clever idea to buy Waze though. That’s pretty average for navigation but awesome for lots of other things.

You left out paper maps...

Lol Android is in pretty much every market because of they have manufacturers that make super cheap phones (if all Android phone were the same prices as the Samsung phones that compete with Apple, Android would be dead in the water). Also, how many of those 70% of Android users are actually using Android Auto...how many even own a car? Oh and Google Maps is in CarPlay as well so...

What did you like most about it?
+1 on this. I like the Apple ecosystem, but not a fan of the CarPlay platform. I use most of what BMW gives me, but I go with Waze for navigation.

Wait I'm confused... so are you saying the auto makers are banning Android Auto? Because it seems to me you could just... you know... use your Android phone and Android Auto... or not use any phone in your car. Either way you won't have to worry what Carplay is doing.

So what do you use for navigation?

When I need really good directions Apple Maps. It is so good in Australia.

When I am doing a road trip then Waze as directions are good enough and I get alerts for police, potholes, accidents, stationary vehicles, road hazards etc. really useful.

some comments here are unreadable, wish I could get too self-approval of superiority from owning an apple product that's their marketing strategy at its best

Everything (almost) tongue in cheek.
Purse swinging about the best cell phone is the same with cars, motor oil, some firearms, ceramic wax, chili with or without beans..., there is no one best for everyone and this android vs iOS always devolves into shit posting (I think this thread started by the same poster under a different name that was pushing EVs in that thread)
There are some objective facts about the iPhone- high end market share of cell phones ≥$400 and better security and privacy.
A cell phone is a tool and no tool is right for every job and there are subjective and objective reasons for using a certain tool. See post by x622 on page one. Use whichever you like, to hell with everyone else.

People used to ride motorcycles across country with just a paper map stuffed into a clear plastic pouch strapped to the gas tank. Real stone aged shit. 1999. Lol.
