Cory - Just PM'ed you.... could you do another one
I live on the East Coast and I wish we had Lakers games here. He'll prob get criticized for scoring 81 just like he got heat for not playing in the 4th for the 62 point game. He can't win with most of the public - but I personally think he's the most talented offensive player in history (over MJ). |

Haha this is great .... i love it. Y cant u just enjoy his greatness cuz what he just did last nite will never happen again. I think his performance last nite was better then Wilts because when wilt did it the lowest scoring team was averagin 111 ppg now there isnt a team averaging over 106.3. So kobe had to do it against teams that actually play some defense. Then the other haters will say he did it against the Raptors but every single player in the NBA plays against the Raptors and they still dont come close to what Kobe did. I can admit Kobe may not always pass the ball to the open guy... but come on i would rather Kobe take the shot guarded then some guys who are open on that team. Kobe is the best player playin today and maybe just maybe 20 years from now if Kobe matures we can say he was the greatest player to play this game because he has the talent and determination to do it. |

Don't worry guys, Magic had people doubting him, Kareem had people who doubted him, even Jordan had his haters, and they're all still NBA greats. Kobe will get his share of criticism, but we all know we just witnessed history, and there's nothing anyone can say to diminish that. He'll go down in history as one of the greatest, if not THE greatest player to grace these courts.

What's my point? They all shoot alot (all are below 50%) and they all average 30+. Of course it makes sense the more you shoot, the more you will score. But great players put themselves in position to shoot and score. The haters will be out there forever because he got caught cheating on his wife. I'm not talking about his character - but even his doubters are admitting that the 81 he dropped last night was an amazing feat. Read any article and even his most ardent enemies in the sports journalism world are giving him his props. He is not a more complete player than MJ but when Kobe is locked in - I don't think MJ could have ever reached his offensive plateau. |

Haha, wife beater, thats Ike Turner
Magic cheated, Jordan cheated, probably more than 50% of the NBA players cheated. Hell, probably more than 50% of the guys cheated. His personal moral choices does not dampen the fact that he plays some of the greatest basketball we've seen in recent times. In addition, Kobe took 46 shots to be exact. He didn't score just 30+ points, he scored 81 points. Given the opportunity, most players in the NBA probably couldn't even get 46 good shots off, let along scoring 81 points. Remember, we're not talking about just standing there tossing up wide open shots or forcing up shots that has zero chances. He drove, he faked, he spun, drop steps, screens, pick and roll, creates space, speed changes...etc. He created good shot opportunities for himself and he took them. Even James Worthy said it, no one in the NBA has this many weapons in his arsenal. You find another player who can do all these and create as many good shots as kobe did with double and tripple teams on him all night, and score 81 points, I'll call him a great player too. So what Clippers is a better TEAM. 10 years from now, you won't be saying, remember back in 06 when clippers made the first round playoff, and almost got out of the second round? But you probably will be hearing "The last time anyone scored over 70 pts was when Kobe torched Raptors for 81pts"

going for 81 is just him being a selfish ball hog,
the game was well in control (looks like from the final score, I didn't see the game) and he was just going for personal accomplishment rather than team victory. 81 is really a huge accomplishment, but it's a selfish one. AI could easily go for just as many points in a similar situation. Kobe plays for himself, not for the team |

THe game wasn't in control until he got to 77 points, the final 4 points were for personal accomplishments. THe game's on FSN west right now replaying.
... and the grape just continue getting more sour for all the Kobe haters.

Kobe scored 62 at Dallas a month ago and was criticized for sitting out the 4th. So either way, he's going to get slammed. David Robinson went for 71 the final game of the regular season in 94 to take the scoring title from Jordan. The game was WELL in hand when he did that. They even fouled the other team on purpose so he could get the ball back. That's selfish. Most NBA players cheat, Kobe got caught. Was it morally wrong - of course. But as someone mentioned before - Jordan cheated on his wife too... Jordan hoisted 25+ shots a game and averaged 37.1 pts in 86-87 - so he was a ballhog too until he got role players who could actually do something. Outside of Lamar Odom, the Lakers are crap. That's why Kobe does what he has to do. Same reason why Iverson shoots 25+ shots a game every season. Haters will flame away as usual. Kobe is one of the great players of this time. It's a shame it's going to go unnoticed. |
