I have played with this option quite a bit and still can't tell if I like it better on or off. With it on the sound feels more spatial around you, but also a lot brighter and perhaps with reduced mid range.

With it off it sounds more muffled.

I'm not sure I like one or the other better. They are just different.

No matter what I tried, I could not get any light to illuminate the HK logo. It's a first world problem so I wasn't worried about it.

However, I had the vehicle at the dealer today for a drivetrain error and they found loads of faults and upgraded ID9 to 11/2023.58.

Voila, the HK logo now illuminates!

They seem to have stripped out the speakers that used to be there (or maybe never were) on the base sound system and replaced with a blanking plate. Probably saves them a few more cents using plain plastic on top of the cutbacks already implemented on latest models!

Saw this in the showroom recently.
One iX1 had the coverplate with the small cutouts, while the other had the blank plate.
I think this was done to reduce costs. There's no speaker behind there anyway if you do not order the Harman Kardon system.

We just ordered an iX1 eDrive20 and decided immediately after hearing the standard sound system that we needed to get the upgraded system.
Main feature lacking in the standard system is any tweeters at all, making the sound quite muffled.

I made this mistake with my 2022 C-class, which has a much worse standard sound system than the standard iX1. I've had to extensively upgrade that system after reciept of the car.

I’m open to suggestions for upgrades to the sound.

Ive had the enhanced sound off on my HK system since I got the X1 in January. When I first tried enhanced sound I didnt notice much difference and I like a 'bright' sound anyway.

Ive now tried enhanced sound 'on' and on SOME tracks theres a big difference. I would say enhanced sound is 'richer' so I will now leave HK switched on and assess it further.

I enabled Enhanced on my car which has HK, and it does sound better IMO. There's a bit more bass, even with the HK upgraded system without enhanced it just seems a bit tinny or harsh for my liking.

Although I've not messed with the settings for bass/treble etc much so I could probably improve things if I tweaked it.

Hi, I got a Mar 23 X1, 16drive, msports version. It does not come with 12 speakers, however, I upgraded to aftermarket audio with DSP. Before the upgrade, I don't hear the turning signal sound. After upgrade the sound became very obvious when I turn own radio or music from spotify and etc. Was wondering those with HK sound configuration, was there a turning signal sound?

What components did you have installed?

The HK doesn't have a mic'd DSP to analyze the sound. So it doesn't produce any tuning frequencies

I installed a 12 Channel Esatto DSP and replaced all the speakers and tweeters. The turning signal became super loud as compared previously it was not even heard. Anyway, I manage to get it codded using bimmercode.

Having had an x3 30i loaner the last month, I must say the base sound system sounds much better than the hk in the x1.
