Oh man, dealers. The Alpina logo is a "special badge of honor"? Wow, gotta love the reasoning. Well, what's the situation then? Would you be trading in the 911 or the Range Rover, or would this be the 4th vehicle in your stable?
If it's a matter of necessity, I think you're already set with the M5 to be honest. However, if you need something more mature, which I personally don't think this car is (...in comparison to the M5 that is...what with the huge spoiler and whatnot), then I guess it would make sense as an extra car to have. $116,000 could buy you a bunch of different cars. Have you thought of other options, like an M6 cab or a V8 Vantage? Just thoughts...oh...Audi R8 maybe?

Yeah, I almost laughed in his face when he said "badge of honor", but the guy was like 60 so I had to show respect to him.
I actually don't want to trade any of my cars, maybe I'm being wasteful, but I honestly have a purpose for each car. I use the Range Rover when I'm with my wife and kid, and we're at Costco or something. It holds a lot of groceries. I use the Porsche when I want something sporty, and nimble. The M5 is something I use as a daily driver. The B7, if I get it, would be a "family car", and probably what I would use for long trips with my wife and kid. We're planning to do a West Coast trip from Southern California all the way to Seattle to see her parents, and none of the vehicles I have right now would really be perfect for something like that. I think the B7 would be great. |

Sounds good to me. Wish I had that kind of money to spend haha. If you're looking for a car that'll consume miles like nobody's business, you should really take a look at some Benzes in the price range, if that interests you of course. I mean, cars above the 70k range are what Mercedes does best, you know.
I was just over at an Audi dealer, and they had an S8 in a special, sort of independent room. Damn, that thing looks niiice. If there's a local Audi dealer within your area I'd highly advise you check one out. The interior (both front and rear) blows the 7's out of the water if you ask me, and it's not like it's damp on power and handling. With the S trim it's also really handsome, and very mature looking. I think it's a perfect family car...maybe even better than the B7 I dare say? Honestly, I wouldn't know. My knowledge on these two cars is based purely off of magazines, online articles, and dealer talk.

Quattroporte's have a boatload of reliability issues. I know someone who picked one up and a week later it wouldn't start and had to be towed back to the dealership. He switched cars after that.

I admit, I spent what might seem like a lot on cars, but it's not for show. I really like driving nice motor vehicles. The performance gives me a rush. But I don't forget that my son and wife come first and I have provided my family with the best home I can possibly give them. We have a very nice home in Newport Beach. |

Looking forward to hearing about it. Which dealer?
Oh, and don't forget to take and post some pics of it (and your JB 2008 M5). |

all in all, the car is SICK... it's as comfortable as the 7series, handles ridiculously for a car that weighs as much as it does, and it pins you to the seat at full throttle... did the salesman give you the speach on how they use ONE tree per B7 for the interior?? anyways, you'll luv the car, it's a completely different feeling... |

imo i think its starting to look outdated. Redesign is about to be revealed and the new one will look better than a B7. Nevertheless, its still unique, just ...... older.

Just a little titbit of information for you -
When BMW figured the M3 CSL and the current-shape E92 M3 around the Nurburgring, they used an Alpina B7 with the whaletail to create a slipstream tow along the long straight for the M3s to follow in, therefore speeding up the laptime!!!
