the original question asked "whats the best thing to do when you catch someone keying your car." so i'm think s/he probably have seen his/her face. But don't really need the name if you got the license plate # for the car he drove off with.. Unless it was a stolen vehicle. but true that they probably won't even try to find him or hunt him down unless you get on their arse about it every couple hours. |

Thought of another one...
Let the creep key your car, then follow him to his car. Follow him home and mark the location with your trusty GPS device. Come back in two days when you've had time to go buy a 12lb sledgehammer, 1 gallon of DOT3 brake fluid, a long stemmed funnel , one pair of latex gloves, one set of clear goggles, one kodak insta camera - with film (or a polaroid, whatever your fancy is) and some run of the mill sandbox sand. Here are the steps. You must perform them in this order to maximize damage to the target and minimize your getting caught. 1st - Put on gloves and goggles and open the creep's gas cap and place your long stemmed funnel in it. Pour sand in until all gone. Remove funnel, repeat if desired. 2nd - take brake fluid and pour generously about the painted areas of the car. Repeat if desired. Let sit for approximately 1/2 hour before proceeding to step 3 3rd - Take 12LB sledge and begin with the front-end of the vehicle (note: this step *may* make a teency weency bit of audible hullabaloo so take note of any approaching sirens, flashing lights or angry car owners) and working your way to the back of the vehichle; making sure to pay special attention to the fenders, quarter panels, hood and trunk areas. 4th - if you have completed all of the above steps (and have not gotten arrested yet) it is time to sit back and capture your kodak moment. Pick a spot out of the way and stakeout the car until the perp returns. Capture his essence on your instamatic camera and then leave the scene. Watch your local news rag's police blotter section and revel in you secretly knowing who demolished some poor dude's car. disclaimer: i in no way endorse any of the above actions and have never taken part of such a well planned assault on some asshole who really deserved it. |

if he was obviously smaller and or weaker, id beat the shit out of him. then id take his wallet, his license and keys (if he has a car / license) then id try to find his car. when i do id pretty much go crazy on it, then id call 911 and say they pulled a gun on me. then id sell his identity on the black market and get his ass identity jacked

I'd pin him against my car, take his keys, and KEY HIS FACE (perhaps his eyeballs)
then I'd proceed by throwing his keys into a nearby sewer kick him in the nads. force him to show me where his car is, key his car, kick him in the nads AGAIN and leave him there... if possible, I'd run over his leg while backing up...

my brother's car got broken into broad daylight.....smashed window.... we got the suspect's car...license plate...the description of the person...etc. cop wrote up a report.....have a nice day....give it to your insurance...... do you think the cops went after the guy to get my brother's kenwood, speaker, CD book, and other belongings...worth $1,000? NOPE! my good friend's house got broken into.... they used a crowbar to break into through the kitchen window.... they took his Playstation 2, Nintendo, Games, VCR/DVD players, DVDs, everything they could carry..... including his wife's wedding ring........ one of the robbers left his cell phone behind..... they probably took over $8,000 worth of items....... cops came and wrote up a report....have a nice day.....give it to your insurance..... unfortunately...his insurance only cover the broken window........$1000.... and he still had to pay a $500 deductible...... Did the cops go after the robbers........NOPE! The saddest thing was that he wasn't even done paying for his wife's wedding ring.......

Just goes to show what a joke our justice system is. In the old days you'd be strung up by your nuts if you messed with someone else's property. We used to shoot horse wranglers on the spot. Nowadays these perps rarely see a day in jail after multiple car thefts or home robberies. |

The truth is that many times it seems like cops don't try to do anything because in reality there's nothing that can be done. Nothing can really be done unless you can get a clear picture of them actually keying your car. You only have two options:
1.) Put your life in danger and try to subdue the guy and wait for a cop to come by. 2.) Let the guy get away and let your insurance company which you pay good money for take care of the damage for you. Personally I'd rather have repairs done to my car then take a chance of having repairs done to myself lol. There's no real benefit of being big and strong when your opponent could have a concealed weapon. |
