Why not? Create another new product line like the 2 series. Series lineage doesn't have to be adhered to. A fresh start.

R8
I have an R8 V10. They wont do it. The new head of M division is from Audi and he hates manual transmissions. I spend 150+ on a car i want the choice to row my own gears....

Uh-huh. Will this be before or after the new M1?
Don't get me wrong, I would love to see BMW commit and release something like this. This carrot's just been dangled too many times for me to take any of these rumours seriously though. |

The 9er will finally get share its architecture with the next generation of Rolls-Royce models such as the all new advanced and evolutionary Phantom.

Hasn't it pretty much been confirmed that the next big BMW will be the 9 series? This 8 series resurrection seems to come up once per year since the E31 went out of production.
I look forward to saying '9er' over and over again. 9er. |

This is kind of believable. As BMW is pushing to make the 6 series smaller, which would probably put it near the size or a little larger than the e class coupe. Now the 8 series bmw can be a director competitor to the s class coupe.
Hopefully this comes to life. |

I would trade my m3, m5, x5, and 7 in for an 8. I know I know the math doesn't add up to 8 but that's how excited I would be to see the 8 come back!!

There was a super car planned, not to compete with the R8, rather with the 918 etc. A couple of prototypes were already build, unfortunately the project was scrapped by the new CEO.
