Over here in Europe, cops don't sit around with radar or laser speed guns. I rock a Cheetah 650, its a GPS enabled speed/red light camera warning system. Works like a champ and would highly recommend one to any of you doing an ED.
I am returning back to the states this fall and am investing in the Passport 9500ci with laser shifter pro

Eyes and Awareness as well, with a 100% effectiveness rate. Haven't had a single ticket in 8 years of driving. and i don't drive anywhere close to slow.
Where I am: - Fixed speed cameras are marked in advance by law, and can only exist at intersections. Very easy to predict and remember. We call them stupid taxes. - Mobile speed cams ( ie cars on the side of the road ) have to have their hazards on when conducting radar patrols. If you cant spot them you deserve the ticket and worst case you slowed down driving by someone having an emergency who could dart onto the road ( good common sense to not buzz them). - Police on side of road use lasers so a detector still won't do you much without common sense approach to driving ( ie predicting enforcement locations, hills, hidden roads etc.) To each their own, I prefer not having a wart and cables all over my dash just so I can pay less attention to driving. |

I have read/agree with reviews that this combo is better and cheaper the 9500ci and on par with the Stinger VIP capabilities. The Bel STiR is the exact same RWR as the Escort but the ALP jammers are supposed to be the best on the market and have regular software updates and great customer support. Oh did I forget to mention that the Bel/ALP combo is the cheapest of the three.......... Thoughts?

Don't even get me started on the constant beeping while driving. I have never seen one smart enough to eliminate all the false alarms. I have personally considered buying one many times and just plain don't see the value. Expensive, ugly, annoying, and based on my experience wouldn't help me as I manage to avoid getting pulled over anyways. Other factor is in that in many jurisdictions if you have a visibly mounted detector and you do get pulled over most leniency by officers is straight out the door. Hey to each their own, they clearly sell plenty of these things as there are a half dozen companies who release new models regularly. ![]() |

Oh for the love...
Doesn't anyone search anymore? There's got to be half dozen threads on this already.

I used to run Beltronics RX65, Escort 8500 X50, and an Escort Passport Max until my escort got jacked by police in Canada. Decided to use Waze exclusively and it's been more effective than radar detectors in my opinion.
