I hate it also. Having an off-centered plate looks worse than a center-mounted plate. Either have the balls to run without a plate, or put the plate where it belongs. You all drive European cars. There isn't a SINGLE country in Europe where there people run with no plates in the front. And Europeans plates are usually larger than US plates.

The worst thing of all are the fake Euro plates in the US. Why???

I see it all the time...especially on GTIs.

The worst is the US plate OVER the fake Euro plate.

Every JDM YO racerboy dipshit on Earth has a tow hook mount. Just like every EURO BRO asshat tucks it under the windshield.

I'll mount my plate in my ass and take a picture when I get home stvding

People do it/don't for different reasons. It's subjective. Some like the it without the plate, some off-center to the side and well....some like it in the ass.

Because any front-mounted license plate, in the center or off the tow hook, messes with the beautiful front end! Even if I could bring myself to drill holes in the bumper, I much prefer the look of no plate.

Further, no front plate lessens the possibility of a ticket camera catching you...not that I run red lights.

Of course, the law requires a front plate, but in my neck of the woods, the cops just don't care. When I head to a city in which you would get a ticket if you park on the street (San Francisco or LA in my case), I just slap on the tow hook license plate mount and I'm good to go.

Also, if you ever do get a ticket for no plate, it's just a 'fix it' ticket here in CA. I believe it's a minor fine ($25?) and you'll need to show the Sheriff you've mounted the plate. The tow hook is perfect for that.

So far, I've never had a problem with no plate.

Tow hook mount is both more ugly and less aerodynamic i think.
I think they're both ugly...and no plate must be more aerodynamic than either option. Come to think of it, if I ever do get a ticket, I can claim I was just trying to be green.

You're right. But I meant different as in it isn't the norm with 99% of all other cars on the road.

Some people may like the look, but my guess is some do it just to stand out from the crowd.

Then you know that alfa designs the front of the cars as they seem fit. Where the numberplate should be placed.... is secondary.
And I think that's a good design philosophy.

Just like this car:

I'm glad that the guy that said "no no no no we cant have that front design..... we need a big flat rectangle space, because of the numberplate" was sick that day.....dont you?

Alfa should probably remember that front plates aren't optional, and will be part of the overall appearance of the vehicle once it's off the showroom floor and on the road.

They are optional in a lot of locations.

Yes and so should ferrari, lamborghini, maserati, mclaren etc etc......ahem
It's a design philosophy. You can either design a car the way you like it and leave the number plate 'secondary' (its ugly anyway, wherever you put it), or you can let the design be leaded by the numberplate. It's a choice most people (here at least) dont seem to understand (but luckily all the great italian design houses do!)

But as everyone dreams and oooohs and aaaahs at the sight of a ferraris, lambos etc etc, there has to be said something for it dont you think?

I use the towhook plate. Why? Because it's easier than drilling holes and buying that plate mount. I don't care how it looks.

It also can be used as a mediocre shopping cart pusher, as exampled by my wife...

I had no idea they were supposed to do that for free. I replaced my bumper so I never bothered to look. The original one had holes and the mount though.
