Wow OP, how old is that Robot Lawnmower you're looking to buy?!?!
It must be pretty old because the newest ones are much more advanced. This is the model i purchased last summer. You can see they make them very life like now. There must be a glitch in the programming though because sometimes it'll say things like, "Hello" or "Good Morning".

I have an automatic one, as well. It shows up every 10 days, disgorges a platoon of personnel and they finish my lawn (1 acre) in 1 hr. My AMX gets charged automatically 1x per month. Yep. Automatic.

If these things are anything like the roomba its gonna take a month to mow the lawn and then you'll find it dead somewhere in a corner.

That's right. I recently started try mowing in alternate height in every other row. My yard is fairly small but it looks like a short maze and looks pretty cool to me.

Lawn mowing - maybe $500 per month or $6,000 per year. Way cheaper than kids.

How does it know where the grass ends? What if there are flower beds, mulch area, etc? What if you share lawn with neighbors, does it come with invisible fence? |

First you want an "invisible fence" to keep your dog in check, now you want one to keep your robot too? Can't you just watch out for your own damn robot?????

You Fuckers are hilarious. It would be for on the farm. Pics below. The wife and I have the city house and the farm, maintaining two places sucks. Someday soon I hope to retire to the farm. In the meantime I am recovering from a torn rotator cuff and torn extensor tendon. Cutting the grass is not an option for at least another three months. I have hired a yard crew but am not really happy with the results and after a couple different complaints I can tell I am now the whiny asshat, and they hate cutting my yard and do a sucky job.
I appreciate the input. This would specifically be for the backyard at the farmhouse and I figure it is about 17500 square feet of grass. I picked up the cheap Worx Landroid (appropriately nicknamed the Verndroid) unused off craigslist for $500 and will install it and see how it does. In the meantime I am amazed at how we can throw a topic out there and it just wanders around, kind of like these mowers. OH, and, in B4 you need to clean up the back of the long barn. I have most of the stuff from behind the 200' long barn cleaned up. |
