Come on lawyer, use some logic.
This an easy decision you just need perspective. I am a doctoral student at USC, and my wife's nephew is lawyer so let me help you out. I hate having conversations with my wife's nephew one he is arrogant but two he is thinking like a lawyer. "What does the evidence say," is what he is always saying. So let's at the evidence or what you presented as the facts. 1) you love DC 2) economically the two cities are equal 3) you have be slighty or marginally incoinence to stay in SD 4) this is a dream job 5) you are getting ahard start in your ccareer at SD 6) it is not like going to work at your current job 7) might not get the class you need immediately. OK take the emotion out if the equation, DC I isn't going any where you always go back if it doesn't work out. If you stay in SD you are already getting an opportunity todo what you love, advance your career, and in 70 degree weather. The way I see kodt people gste there jobs if you stay in SD is an extended vaction while you go to school. I hate myself for saying this, think like a lawyer and look at the facts bro, that will guide your decision and make it clear SD is the way to 👍 Last edited by The Murder 335i; 07-16-2016 at 10:05 AM.. |

All about the school IMHO.....maybe, though, is the connection factor...can you turn the job into more solid connections? If schools are comparable.....SD!

I am not sure weather or not you have laid out all of the possibilities but I suggest trying it in a matrix where you attribute values to each column (weather, mortgage, opportunity, lifestyle, and other things you value)
Then add up the values to see if SD or DC is more valuable to you as you have assigned points to each thing that makes you life one place or another. My friend did this and he ended up loving where he lived. Hidden within my post is my recommendation. jtodd_fl should be able to find it easily. |

Here is the deal-
I lived in the DC area and frankly for about 1000 reasons, I don't recommend anyone live there with perhaps two exceptions- 1)Family 2)A job that requires you to be in this area and you can't get one anywhere else. Otherwise, its SD, 100x over. |

Thank you everyone for the opinions, really appreciate it!
Gonna give it the rest of the weekend, but I'm leaning towards DC. As amazing as SD is, the job, the weather, the babes...I miss the DC lifestyle deep down, and I know DC is better for my growth as a student and adult. I will do everything in my power to return to SD next summer and following graduation. I know that job will still be on the table then, based on the feedback I've received. But damn is it hard to leave SD. |

Guess it depends on personality. I've never been much of the beach-goer type, so SD was actually quite an adjustment for me. In DC you're surrounded by intelligent minds and well-dressed professionals, in SD you're surrounded by well-spaced and exceptionally large titties. I guess the driving factors are: I love the school I'm going to, my apartment is seriously badass, friends, some family, and the opportunity to change what I want at my will (whereas in SD there certainly aren't as many opportunities). |

@smoosh - depends on your long term career aspirations.
Not that I presume to know what you want long term, but I would think about where you want to be in 5, 10, or even 15 years. If that is political in nature - I'd think DC trumps SD. |

Seriously though, SD sounds great on paper but your heart doesn't seem into it. I always say follow your heart unless your heart is stupid, then go with your brain.

SD. No reason to stay in DC through the administration change. Who knows what's going to happen there depending on who wins the election.
