1. he said he is working to make 4 figures... that means he's under 10k/yr... which generally you'd have to be very young to make that, or work 10 hours a week at a minimum wage.

2. 18 BMWs and never six figures? So in other words, you made $99,999.... or those were some reeeeeeeeaaly used BMW's. I'm midway through life, and I've only owned about 5 cars... so something's not adding up here.

The guy saying four figures is trolling you obviously.

Personally, I have two internet jobs and own an F80. My first internet job makes $5k and I hope that my second one will get me there quickly.

My friend in my car crew works at a large retailer and owns a 2014 M5. He does make that much money but he saves a lot and already paid it off!

I've decided to give up inspecting those damn beavers and decided to be a laptop CEO so that i can afford a new M car. I think getting one of those 6 figure deals will be awesome.

I personally never made more than $85K and my wife never more than $75k, so between us, we never made more than $160k gross. Of the 18 BMWs (that's over 40 years time), 7 of them were new and the oldest was 6 years old (a 1998 540i we bought in 2004 as a second car). Our house is paid for, our cars are paid for, we have no debt at all, and $400k+ in savings. You don't have to make megabucks to live comfortably when you spend smartly. But that's just me.

And when you have tens of millions of dollars, simply dumping that in the stock market is going to buy you a fleet of new cars every year if you choose to do that instead of reinvest.

Now I know I asked about M3+ owners, not Ferrari and Bugatti owners, but I'm just making the point that people buying hugely expensive cars often times already have the rest of their life in order, and the car is nothing to them.

That's why I asked the question. I was curious for honest answers, but instead it's open mike at the comedy store. I'd be curious to know if Subway sandwich workers are driving M3's.
I was talking more about your $40K - $80K type luxury car "owner." I agree with all your sentiments though.

Well when I was a teen... I did let a homeless friend of mine sleep in the back of my Dodge Dart for a couple weeks. I parked it in an alley behind the house and some guy tried to break into it while he was sleeping in it, rofl.

You are right. For 21 years, I was in the Air Force and lived in Texas, California, Thailand, Germany, California again, Spain, Italy, Turkey and then Texas again. Definitely depends on where you live.

If you're suggesting base 16 = base 2... no... no more than japanese = english.

I'd rather work at a job I love on a daily basis making only 10k a year, than work at a job I hate making 200k a year.

It has been mentioned a few times in this thread, anything can be bought... whether or not you can afford should be the true deciding factor.

wealthy people don't invest in cars. there is no "investing" in cars. rich people already know this... they buy, keep for 6 months, get a new one.
