There are a lot of courteous drivers but there are also a lot of aholes. Unfortunately, the aholes tend to be all over the place.

I still wave to say thank you but just in case they don't see my wave, I blink my hazards 2-3x to say thank you to the driver behind me.

Lol the things you guys will post about.

Personally, if I'm not driving in traffic or on pothole/manhole ridden roads, I'm a stereotypical BMW douche. In the words of Jay Cutler, don't caaaaare.

Years of observation in my little neck of the woods with Audi/Porsche here in central PA. Lane discipline in on a steady decline with younger drivers that don’t have a clue.
The car culture is on a decline with younger generations so that could be a root cause. Driving a Porsche 911 for 30 years brings out the aggression and insecurities of some drivers to taunt or race. Generally insecure men/boys feel a need to do this even in the most pathetic vehicles.
Audi drivers of the last 5 years or so seem to be housewives and fall into the “non driving enthusiast” demographic in my area. This category is also shared with the Lexus LX owners. My limited ownership of my BMW 50i M-Sport has shown a similar effect as my Porsche with the need to pass me (if I let them) by other drivers only to then slow down in the left lane.
The best way to avoid problems is with the right pedal and don’t get into the zombie pack of cars meandering down the highway. My issue in the States is just because you know the rules of the road academically to get your license doesn’t mean you are a competent driver.
When my young kids want to start driving, they will attend a performance driving school before they get their license.

I've scared myself a couple of times when this happens to me. It's like sleepwalking, I'll sort of snap out of it and wonder "How am I here already?" and sometimes I even stress myself thinking about if I ran a red light or rolled through a stop sign in that period. The only time I'll remember is if I witness something interesting or really bad driving and bring it up in the call.

I couldn't agree more. None of this happens when I drive another car. Jersey is the worst

Yesterday I was behind another car as we approached a red light. The road was one lane in each direction but enough space for a car to pull to the right of the traffic lane. I had my turn signal on. He must have seen me in his rear view mirror because he pulled over enough to make room for me alongside him enabling me to make the turn without waiting for the light to change.

There are good drivers. Just not enough of them.

This is exactly how I feel on the road in my M3. It’s as though the bad rep BMW drivers is expected so people are preeminently assholes first.

There's idiots driving every make and model out there. I'm not sure what is worse, the intentionally idiotic a-hole drivers or the clueless idiots staring at their phones going 20 under the speed limit.

A few days ago I had a woman in a Subaru Forester slam on her brakes for a green light. Me and the 4 cars behind all laid on the horn. By the time she looked up and realized what happened the light was already yellow.

Having recently bought a X5M and out enjoying the drive with my kids and noticed an M5 behind me in the right lane. I had my turn signal on but the guy won't let me get in that lane. Low and behold, we both ended up parking our cars side by side and going into the same store.

While checking out, I casually mentioned he had good taste in cars and that it sounded great too. All I heard back was Yeah.... The fuck didn't even have the courtesy of acknowledging my remark or even saying Thank You.

The incident reminded me of the phrase " Money can't buy you class"

ever since I became a truck driver I kinda started to be more courteous and i wave people in and don't get mad when people cut in front of me, on the other hand people still get mad at me for letting other people into my lane, or i wave people in and someone always honks at me for doing so.

Despite the stereotype that BMW are douchebag drivers, don't use their turn signals, cut you off, bad parking, etc. I find that the average bmw driver I see on the road are fairly courteous like you said and not at all aggressive like others make us out to be.

If I'm being completely honest - many Audi drivers (not all) are the worst followed by Merc drivers if we're comparing German car owner driving etiquette. One thing I do notice, however, is the entry level models such as the A3/A4, 320i, C300, CLA tend to be attract the worst drivers of them all and owners like to think they own the road.:

This.

Nothing like a lifted brodozer Dodge Cummins smoking out an entire intersection with his trashcan sized exhaust stack.

Haha not even that, if they had lanes that existed just for the purpose of all the slow Subaru drivers, texters, etc, it would make things much easier.

I'm down as well, as long as that lane led into a bottomless pit that they could all fall into
