when i stayed with my friend he gave me one of his phones (krazr) and i used 1-2 call for that. hey as long as the iphone 3g will work in thai once i put in the SIM and register the 1-2 call it really doesn't matter. but i just want to know if i get a thai text message, it will still come up on my phone right but the characters will be messed up like #&&%&?

also i am going back too december time. where are you staying at (your friend's)? i had a ballin time in thailand with my friend. last 3 weeks i was there i went all out disco everynight switching it off between novatell, bed supper, RCA, and hollywood at ratchada. im korean so when i went there with my thai friend it was even better being gao lee there haha. spent a fortune every night drinking red-black and once twice green label.

You have to change the settings on the SIM for the language.

Thonglor & RCA are the hotspots for locals. Muse, Jet, Curve, Nang Len, Song Salueng, Escudo, and some others, those are the real hot clubs. Black at the minimum... Swing for easy drinking...

regarding cell phone usability in other countrys heres what i have to say

cell phones use the wavebands 850 900 1800 1900 and 2100. most countries use 2 of the 5, but japan and certain countries use the 2100 waveband. cellphones can be categorized as quadband meaning it uses 850 900 1800 1900, triband meaning 900 1800 1900. and so on. most att phones are quadband because att uses the 850 and 900 networks. t mobile phones r usually triband because t mobile mainly uses the 900 and 1800 i think wavebands. it gets more complicated but thats the basics.

change the setting on the SIM for language? i thought it was just insert it and voila connected... if i am in south korea and insert the SIM card and leave it in english and get a korean text message, the message will appear in korean automatically right because the phone already supports the language?

and you mind telling me where the muse, jet, curve, nang len, song, etc clubs are at? black at the minimum? lucky you haha but going out everynight straight for last 3 weeks the shit adds up fast...

are you thai btw? where do you stay upon your visit in thailand?

I'm not Thai but I have Thai girlfriends. The SIM card, there is a setting on each SIM that you have to setup with the carrier to change things like language. Once the preferences are set, you will be ok.

All those clubs are in Thonglor and Ekkamai. You need to know a Thai to help you get acquainted with these clubs. Once you do, you won't be hanging out at those same old places.

Much better than Novatel. Novatel is P4P scene, if you like that then you won't find it in Ekkamai and Thonglor. Ekkamai and Thonglor is where real Thai ppl hang out and a lot of hiso too. I saw a Scuderia parked out in front of Nang Len the other night, that costs well over 1.5 million USD in Thailand. But don't be alarmed, students and normal people go, too. It's the real Thai scene where Thais don't want to run into tourists.

are there still foreigners in those clubs? my friend is thai and i don't want to be the only gao lee from NY LOL.

also besides those clubs you mentioned, can you give me more so next time i go i can go to these places as well; will really appreciate it. thanks.

Hiso = Hi Society and p4p = pay for play. Ekkamai road has a ton of clubs so that street gets serious traffic problems at night time. Especially since Jet & Curve both opened up there. Best way to get there is take Thonglor Soi 10 to Ekkamai. The clubs are all within walking distance of each other. The hottest club used to be Nang Len. But now Curve is huge so it relieved a lot of the crowdedness there. Jet is across the street from Curve. Also nearby is Santika which used to be an old hotspot. But mark my word, Muse will be the hottest club there. The design is excellent, it's large, and the bathrooms are nice. These clubs are mostly for Thais but since you are Asian you won't have a hard time there. Very few farang but there are Asian foreigners. Escudo is closed for remodeling and it's a bit expensive compared to these clubs, it's also nearby in Thonglor. Tons of other little clubs nearby but probably the only other one worth going to is Y-50 where it's a more relaxed scene.

I stay at serviced apartments, a real nice one called Fraser Suites in Sukhumvit runs me close to 4k a night but it has a kitchen, washer dryer, and it's big. Girls are impressed when they come in. I'm back in the US now though.
