I stopped watching about a half hour into the movie. Robert Di Niro and Joe Peschi are 76 years old yet Robert Di Niro is playing a much younger character. He still looks older even with all the makeup and CGI that's supposed to make him look like he's in his 30's. In the fight scene with the store clerk that shoved his daughter he looked like some old guy, didn't look like he was really hitting that hard and the actor that was being tossed was over acting to make it look like his ass was really getting kicked and the candy glass window and sound effects making it look more dramatic than it really was.

So I started watching it on Thanksgiving evening after some cocktails and a bottle of wine. Not the right time... started dozing off 30 minutes in.
Today I had a lazy day after driving 12 hours yesterday so I started over. It was not in the league of Godfather I / II or even Goodfellas and it could have been shorter by at least 30 minutes, if not more. However, I thought it was pretty good overall. The only time I saw an issue with the age of the cast was when De Niro was stomping on the shop owner. He’s too old for that and it showed. But otherwise, I thought it was a good story and excellent cast, particularly De Niro and Pacino as Hoffa. Granted, I am a longtime fan of the category and always will be, but it was well worth watching. Doubtful I will watch it again but happy I watched it once and my wife even liked it.

Snow and rain today so we stayed in and watched it. We were both quite disappointed. Script wasn’t good, movie dragged on and on and acting even by the some of the stellar cast wasn’t all that. This was to Scorsese what G.F. III was to Coppola.

Hahaha!!! Exactly! I found that one of the most "Hater Comments" of 2019.
How are you gonna come out publicly and talk shit about a studio/movies that absolutely crush it in revenue and box office draw? Hey Marty... Newsflash... This is a New Era. People now have these things called Home Theaters. As such, certain movies aren't even considered when going to the local Megaplex. Such as, long drawn out Dramas like yours. Going to the Theater for most is about the "experience". Which is exactly what MARVEL and DISNEY bring. Don't hate.... Congratulate. |

I think of it as more of a tribute to the actors and his previous movies, than a film meant to be significant on its own. Still not worth more than an hour or so.

Watched it last night with the wife. I thought it was all right, but it really felt like Martin was trying to wring the last bit out of the sponge that is the big name actors. I'll admit, the names are what reeled me in, but it was a mobster version of Grumpy Old Men. Watching the old dudes playing the CGI young version of themselves wasn't pretty. De Niro barely got his hip to move when it came time to stomping the shop keeper.

Agree. DeNiro hasn't acted an actual role in the last 20 years. He just walks into a scene and does some DeNiro schtick, and then goes back to his trailer. Not bad work, if you can get it.

Just like most other viewers, me and my wife also fell asleep at around the 1 HR mark.
Overall, we enjoyed the movie, but it was a little drawn out and slow paced. Wouldn't recommend paying $15 a ticket to watch it in theaters, but for slow snowy night and on netflix, it was a must watch

I found it enjoyable, but it was a 'one-time watch' movie. Im a sucker for a mob movie so I may be biased.

I enjoyed it, particularly the first 3 hours. I like the way they did the scenery, cars, set design, etc. Some of the stuff reminds me of my childhood. Furniture, interiors, clothing, etc. The way they speak to each other is hilarious.
"Did you do the thing?" "which thing?" "that thing?" "no the other thing?" "just not that other thing?" "right, that's what some people are saying, so I hear" But the movie just didn't know how to end after all that build up. Still was worth a watch. Seth |

I'm an hour and 40 in and I'm a fan. Pretty interesting and I like movies with a lot of moving parts. Although I've had to stop and rewind about 5x to explain things to the fiance haha.

That makes it about a 4 hour movie. You may want to start watching in the morning so you're done by noon.
